BLITZ SBD-ID boost controller

Is that on the back window? It looks like the rear seatbelts in the reflection and the trunk is popped.

I know this thread is kinda old but I feel bad for missing this question. Maybe this pic will help someone today with an idea of placement.

I hope that was meant as a joke. Why would anyone put something like that on their rear window, or even tint their rear window half way. Anyways, what you see in the reflection is the steering wheel and the dash. I didn't think I had to be very specific about the location because I thought the pic spoke for itself. My bad

Sorry, sarcasm doesn't transfer over the internet well.

Yeah, I like that spot, but I don't know about it being super stealth like someone mentioned. Do those things light up at night?

Yes they do light up and are easy to see at night but only from the inside of the car

Ok, well I had to make some changes to the settings.

I now as of today have the MPI, Injen CAI, Cat & resenator delete exhaust, short shifter with kartboy bushing, AEM W/B AFR guage kit, Blitz SBC-ID boost guage and EBC...

Well I'm going to have to figure out how to mount the selenoid closer to the turbo. I have my gain set to 0 and I still get boost spike, not uncotrollable, but yet still get it.. This should reduce the boost spike...

My car runs great!!! I need to fine tune the MPI and remount the selenoid and it will just be amazing...

You have to be careful after you get the exhaust and MPI becuase the car is so smooth going through boost it will give you a false sense of not boosting hard, but if you were to look at your speed-o-meter and boost guage you will realize that you actually are really moving up in MPH and really getting into the boost!!!

Did you just use double sided tape or what to mount them? I really like that location and want to do the same...

I used Velcro and it worked great. It didn't damage the tint when I removed the controller

can you tell me what you think the best setting should be??? here are my list of mods:

(I mount my solenoid under just under the stock air box)

-- iON 3" turboback (with high-flow cat, resonator)
-- iON FMIC
-- stock air box with K&N panel filter

that's it, what setting should I go with? I need the setting for 2 channels, probably one at 8psi and the other one at 10psi...?

thanks.

I had my solenoid mounted there and never had a real problem with boost spike. I had to move it onto the battery box after installing my Injen CAI. I realy didn't suffer from boost spiking until I added my exhaust and man now my turbo spools up so fast that I'm not able to really control the spooling even with my gain set at 0.

I think you should try your gain setting at 5 first and then have the boost set at 8psi for testing get on it all the way through the gears if you do not suffer exetreme boost spike and it holds the set boost steady, then increase the gain to 7 and try it, it that works to try 10 if that works then try 15, but do not go past a gian setting of 15. I know a lot of others do, but our manuals state that an actuated wastegated turbo has gain setting between 5 - 15.

So with that said, I would stick to the rules. I was running a gain of 15 before my exhuast was installed and it rocked no real boost spike to speak of and it would hold any set psi like a rock I loved it !!!! so try the mentioned above and let us know the results...

also don't forget to set your boost warning and your boost limiter. Since you have 4 channels I would have 4 of them set up. I would have two of them for mild weather and two of then set for colder weather. Make the colder ones more conservative and remember to watch your speed-o-meter and boost guage to get your readings, don't go off of feel becuase you can get use to your car boosting and one day you may be boosting really hard and not know it unless you pay attention to your guages.

thanks for the info. I have now set it to 7 gain with 8psi and 7 gain with 10 psi. but how do I test it out? run every gear and hit the max boost and see how it holds or what? how do you test it out to see what setting is the best?

run through the gears with your foot in the gas and watch and see if you hit bad boost spike ( you have your max set at 10psi and boost spike is when it shoots past your set boost level) if it only goes a little over and then back down to your set psi level then it is a pretty good setting, but if it goes to like 12psi or higher and it pretty stays in high boost then your gain needs to be lowered.

you don't want boost spike. ways to avoid it is have the selenoid as close as possible to the turbo and have your lines cut as short as possible.

I shortned my lines tonignt becuase they were to long and it helped my goost spike some, but I'm going to remount the selonid closer to the turbo and also mount it sitting flat and see if that helps as well...

thanks. do I try this on every gear right?

yes when testing try in all gears...

OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have an announcement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had my EBC installed wrong!!!!!!!!!!! What can I say I have never worked on a turbo and when your on your own, it's trial by fire. My directions came with like 4 or 5 different ways to install on 4 or 5 different types of acutautor wastegated turbos. Well, I choose the wrong one in the end....

I now have that fixed and have steady boost perfect!!!!

In Addition, I was wrong on the readings...

ok, here is the correct way, atleast that is what the guy who fixed it said (JDMSAM) Bastard of all people to figure it out !!!!!!!!! Actually he is real good, but you pay the price heavy becuase he will bash your ass and rub it in. Which, in a way is good becuase once he is done with you, you'll never forget what to do after that!!!!!!!!

ok, even though the directions in the manual are a little vague and misleading here is how it works for me after Sam and I finished testing...

I have my readings set to PSI.

the number in the set adjustment is a value and not and actual numerical representation of PSI. I was correct on gain it controls how fast your turbo will spool up to the set boost ratio. I was right on the warning level it represents PSI, but the limiter number actually represents a percentage and not actual PSI. So for instance if you have 10 set in the limiter it will reduce your overall current boost level by 10% once you reach the warning level PSI you have set.

so here is my setting as of now to reach 9-PSI with almost no boost spike I mean smooth as a babies ass and holds like a b**** hanging off a cliff, for dear life!!!

here are my settings for steady 9-PSI boost level.
set: 28
gain: 22
warning : 12.1
limiter: 10

Enjoy the boost now.(cheers)

hahahahah!!!! (cool) I deserve it!!! (pullup) oh well atleast I buy parts from Ya' (blah)

on another note if the older setting worked for you as well. You may have your boost controller hooked up wrong. Becuase mine worked fine that way until I had an open exhuast installed. Then it was like "holy s*** I just hit 14.1 PSI !!!!" no matter what I tried it wouldn't fix it. Also another sign was my car would stall at idle. Now, that I have it hooked up right it doesn't stall and my idle doesn't go up and down anymore, it's steady...

so word to the wise!!!! double check your hoses. I can post pictures if you like of the correct setup....

oh, did you have your setting on Auto or Manual? I know if it is Auto, then the set readings is in psi. but if it is in Manual then the setting is in ratio. today I have mine set at 8.0 and gain at 7, and I hit 10.2 psi on the 3rd gear! so it dose spike over 8.0.

I really don't know what is the right way now...

Mine is set in manual mode... I'm going to try and see if setting the gain back to 15 is still fuctional, if not then I'm going to stick to 22.

we should both post pic's of our setups and then we can tell if we have them setup the same way. Then we will go back to adjusting the settings..

What do you think?
