Big Brakes

I was searching Brembo.com and noticed that the Miata (MX-5) uses the same brake dimentions as us. Does anyone know if the hardware is essentially the same and could we put the Miata big brake kit on the Proteges? On a side note, would it be possible/feasable to put Miata discs in place of the drums found on many of the early 3rd gens in the rear? Food for thought...

You don't have to do the swap. A couple companies (HiBoost, Wilwood) and forum members (Twilight) are developing BB kits for the Protege sedan. From what I have been told, it doesn't make much sense to switch out the rear drums for discs. Since we are FWD, the drums are sufficient as is. If anything, you could always paint them to make em stand out. Then they wouldn't look so blah to you. Thats what I plan on doing for mine when I get my G2 paint. Also, Twilight's and Juan's (HiBoost) BB kits are going to be priced significantly lower that Wilwood's kit.

being that miatas are rwd there is much doubt that anything on one would work on a protege. i don't know if anyone has tried it though. but i personally wouldn't waste the money finding out that it doesn't work
