Perhaps the person that diagnosed your bent rod would be in better position to make that determination.

there are several variables

thanks for the reply meicalnissyen.
thing is the ***** at mazda only said bent rod 7K and we'll fix it. :O
7k i can go forged. which i would if it wasnt for all the rumors going around about ken at PG and i cant find any forge blocks besides his site

Uh, so still, someone trustworthy, needs to put eyes, (at least) on your nternals before you can make a decision

Ken is a good human, IF he has the parts in his hands, you are golden

tow the sumbitch out and take it to another mechanic and ask him to run a compression and leakdown test. That'll answer your question right there. Was she knocking when you last ran it?

If the rod IS bent, don't drive the car or it may air mail itself right out of the block and you'll be truly ******. It the block doesn't have unnecessary holes, you're still in for a big bill but, you can still just pluck some new rotating bits in there and be done.

How'd did you supposedly bend it?

she dose knock
good thing it didnt air mail out cuz i still drove it all the way home.

just flooring it started spitting so i let off and damage was done

It's almost gotta be something with the combo of that off the shelf AP map and OP's level of mods. Maybe, just maybe, a good independent shop will diagnose just how bad the situation is.

OP: don't try to start the car. Get to a shop where they can give you a good heads up on what is actually messed up. If a rod is bent, chances are very good that one cylinder is severely scored and might have to be sleeved and bored. Why did the rod bend, if that is the problem? Did you drop a valve into the cylinder or introduce something into the intake that the pistion could not compress when it came up on stroke? You could have damage to the head on that cylinder. It could be a lot of things, some of which might be fixable short of replacing the engine.

When you get going again, consider immediately flashing your ECU back to stock and stay away from any tune that cannot be verified as safe by people who know WTF they are doing. Either stay stock, go Hypertech, or get a custom AP tune by a reputable tuner. There are too many off the shelf map or self tuned AP zoom, zoom, booms out there. Just one opinion.

Edit: What Grimmspeed product are you running and how do you have it configured? It is the manual controller or the electronic boost solenoid? If the latter, you gotta be very careful on how you plumb the damn thing. A CUSTOM TUNE is required if you try to run that sucker in 3 port mode.

wow i drove the car all th way home then took it back to mazda THEN came back home hasnt been moved or strated since then
its the electronic boost solenoid?
to be real idk wtf happened the mods listed up top r the only power mods on the car

If you end up having to replace the internals, you might as well try to come up with the extra dough to bore, hone, sleeve, and deck the block. You might be tempted to go HIGH power in the future so might as well prepare yourself for it while the engine is taken apart.

do you know how much we can bore??
due to the aluminum block i didnt think we could bore.
we only have so much iron in r piston chamber. to bore it wouldnt it just make it weak

I replace my engine at 52k. Now im at 72k. I would agree with the mods comments. The fewer the better. I got a used engine with 3k on it for 3400. Shipped. I have a connect if you want another engine.

What the hell is it about the 07-08 that make them throw rods? I have heard of one 8.5-10 that has thrown a rod. Maybe I haven't looked hard enough but it seems mazda changed something in 8.5. After all the AP fails ill steer clear of that route until I go BNR later and then get it pro tuned. Sorry to hear about the engine.
