BEGI kit install=minor problems on MP3

The greddy type-s is slightly more expensive then the type-r. I use the type-s with great results and purge it to the atmosphere. The type s has a high pitched chirping sound kinda sounds like a WRC rally car. It is very loud!
The type r sounds like air venting..kinda sounds like a big bus stopping and opening the doors like a woooosh sound.
The type s is more distinct and I know for sure works with our MAF sensors.

Dyno?

I think what Port is referring to is adjusting the boost and feul pressure, so the car runs without knocks and pings (or blows up completely). In some cases it can take longer than the instal itself!

Exactly!

So Port,

How are things going with the tuning? I'm very interested to see how this goes, considering I'll more than likely be the 2nd to try the kit on an MP3. Have you resolved all the issues with Corky?
Do the people installing the Kit have any turbo experience?

Me and two other guys will be installing my kit. My best friend is a technician at Audi and has great experince with turbo's, however, this will be his first turbo install on a non-turbo car. I had BEGI fax us over the instructions and parts list a week ago, so we can read over everything a billion times even before the kit gets here.

I'm looking forward to it, should be a fun challenge. ;)

I feel ya on this man. I plan to be boosted very soon, provided that my finaces are tight. I plan on doing the install myself with the help of Big_ben, and maybe Jag61180.

Linux,

Have you reserved your kit yet? Last I heard, there were only 2 left for the $2995 price, and I think mine might have been one of those.

I'm not sure if Corky was only selling 10 BEGI kits period (before turning the kits over to FM) or if he was just selling the first ten for cheap and then the rest for a higher price. (I can't believe I just called 3 grand cheap :D )

<--Not a big baller
<--- Credit cards are hating me right now.

(sssh)

Don't say that too loud! I am waiting to hear back on my loan (hopefully tomorrow). I talked to Corky today, and they say that they have 2. One kit they say is pretty much spoken for (I assume yours). They are waiting on the funds to lock that one in.

I think that might be someone elses. They require a $200 deposite to hold the turbo (which is what I'm assuming the one kid has done), then you have to pay 60% of the rest in order for them to build and put together the kit. Once that's done, they will bill you for the remainder of the invoice.

I've already paid $1700, and I guess they're waiting on a shipment from Garrett. Then, once they package up the kits, they will send the last bill..

I hope your loan goes through man!!! I just threw mine on two CCd's hehe.. Thank god I'm already through my high APR stage.

Ok so thanks for the answers about the tuning. One thing still confuses me. I know each MP3 is slightly different, but wouldn't a kit at least have numbers to work with on the boost level/fuel pressure regulator etc? I'm assuming they've tuned/tested it themselves before mass-producing the kit. I would think that there would be very little tuning involved in a kit. But I'm probably wrong once again :).

Chris

OK OK Finally I'm boosted....somewhat

Hey guys finally !!! I'm only running 5psi right now to give the engine sometime to get used to FI . and i'm running rich as hell right now but I guess thats good ....I'm going to run only 5 for two weeks then im taking it to a proformance shop in Jacksonville(maybe with NC_MP3) to get dyno tuned at @ 8 psi. but for now even with jus 5 damn!!! what a difference !!! any questions jus ask and I'll get to ya later....goin to bus some ass right now!!:D

hey Port if you can get some pitures that would be great. I got my kit on monday and getting it installed on sunday. I will probably need to ask you alot of questions when and if i run into a problem.

Congratulations! Take it easy for the first 500 miles to make sure everything is seated and seasoned. Stay off the rev limiter

Ok guys,

Here is my delima. I have the money to buy a BEGI kit now, but I think I may have some minor engine problems that could turn major if I slap on the turbo. I think that one of my wrist pins are loose, or something like that. When driving, or reving close to 3000 RPM, I get engine clatter. It would cost be about $350-$450 in labor to get that fixed. Since they are gonna have the block open, I may as well upgrade my internals. I know that BryanPendelton has had forged pistons (9.1:1 compression) made for is probe. What do you guys think?

DAM LUINX....EVERYWHERE I GO I SEE THAT POST...be easy....people will see it ok...i say get ya s*** fixed before even thinkin bout goin turbo....i bet if u keep it like it is and go turbo, u lookin at maybe a week with ya turbo in until s*** hits the fan...a week at most...and that is being gracious...;) ...most definatly u shoudl go with the internals...specially on the fsze u will have a nice lil edge of portenital over me....:D (when i am done:mad: )...until then ....u better use that money to fix ya s*** and make it stronger...turbo systems can only improve with time...the longer u wait the more R&D goes into the systems...wait....get the motor fixed(drinks)

Yeah, let me know when yo are going to the dyno and I will go too. PM or email me about it. I may even slap mine up there to see what I get hehe.

Yeah, I have had the engine clatter for a few months now, and I need to get it fixed soon.

OK guys,

After talking to Corky Bell, and getting priced for $700 just for the foged rods from Crower, It looks like I will just be replacing my pistons with the stock 9.1:1 compression, and buying the B.E.G.I. Turbo kit probably today. Corky informed me that the stock pistons will last longer duet to the ability of them to expand properly on cold startups. He said that the forged ones will slowly destroy themselves on cold startups due to their lack of expansion properties. He also informed me that if tuned right, our stock pistons will take p.s.i. levels of 12-15. So I will probably be putting my car in the shop within the next week, and waiting on the Turbo.
