BC coilover install pics review

yes both sides were jacked up before going at the endlinks.

the car did get dropped down a lil funky... but id say soft enough evenly enough.... what would that do if it wasnt put down from jacks properly...

they just worked. they get stressed or worked everytime the car "twists." Nothingu can do if they didnt break. Its probly bad bushings. put on stock endlinks and see if the noise goes away.

recent pics. another quarter inch drop in the back

just finished installing my BCs today(no pics yet). looking and feeling good so far, but need an alignment pretty bad.

one weird thing that i'm hoping some one might have also experienced... when i removed the seatbelt housing to get at the top of the rear struts they retracted all the way down. they seem to be locked in this position, and now i can even get enough slack in the belt to reinstall them. haven't fiddled with it too much, but anyone know how to release the belt so that it will unwind again?

hehe u have to hold that thing in about the exact position it wud be in if it were bolted back in. its like magic, u have to be smooth.

update: I dont here anymore clunking.. didnt do anything besides lower the back a lil more... o well. loveing them more everyday. good luck with the seat belt thing dude... i still havent put back all of the trunk trim..let me know how it works out incase it happens to me..o heres a pic of newly painted lip

need to be lower ;)

red99pro, thanks for the tip! i'll give it a shot. gotta mess around with the damper stiffness settings before i put it all back together. unfortunately, the rear knob is hard to access with the seatbelt housings and rear panel in place.

TWISFM, looking good, buddy! if there is no clunking, i'd leave it where it is. but yes, i know, we all want to go lower..... the drop out of the box was pretty nice, i must say. i'll post some photos soon.

got an alignment this morning. the guy who did it was very impressed with the coilovers! i was like "yeah, i know they're hot." hehe...

anyway, rear seatbelts and rear panel back in place. fronts dampers at 14 and rears at 13. probably going to stick with the factory drop. taking it for a spin soon to see how it rides.

you needed to drop it first then get an alignment... whenever you change the ride hieght you need to get an alignment...sry if this is the first your hearing about it...also did you take it to a performance shop or just local midas place....hope it was a performance shop..

There is something like an internal level in them it seems. Hold them in your hand like they are mounted already and the seat belt should come back out ha ha seriously. That's what mine did too. Try it! I wanna get lower with my coilovers but my girl is still driving it.

yeah, the seat belt thing worked. that was tripping me out...

i went to BigO for the alignment. they seemed legit, the guy knew about the coilovers and everything seems straight. i've also asked two other shops about getting an alignment after raising/lowering the ride height. they both said not to worry about it if i only changed the height an inch or less. do you think that there is any amount of raising/lowering you can do with out needing a realign?

depends, how much tolerance do you have for your toe to be off? Changing ride height any amount at all changes toe. How much varies from car to car based on suspension geometry. The thing about toe is that very small changes can make a very big difference. We tweak it on the miata in increments of 1/32 of an inch in the rear.

To answer your question, you'd need to know how much ride height changes how much toe. And to be honest, I can pretty much guarantee it changes based on what the ride height is.

So in conclusion, I have no idea. But I do know that a touch of toe in the wrong direction can take a car from being perfectly stable and planted to being freakin scary to drive.

so, if toe is the only thing affected by relatively subtle height changes...
then next question is: how hard/easy is it to adjust my own toe?

its doable, but dont do it

also, camber is affect by ride height.... thats why people swear that simply lowering the car will improve handling, more negative camber = better handling
