Since I own a 323 GTX (AWD...that my buddy wrecked), I seriously considered it. My opinion is similar to those who have already considered it. It's not worth the trouble, unless you're a lottery winner. Of course it can be done, and probably easier with a BP motor (1.8) but possibly with the FS motor, but I could take my Trans Am to 1000 whp for the money it would take to pull off the swap, which would be infinitely more fun.

If I were to do it, I'd go for RWD only. The AWD Protege or maybe a 323 GTX would come into play for donor parts, and a shitload of work would follow. If you want to be the first, have at it!

i considered it once i first got my protege, because FWD SUCKS, but it is just not possible. nore are there any kits for it so it is not worth it. get to 200 whp safetly get some suspension upgrades, and then build something else that was ment to go fast. Protege + Fast just dont belong together. a select few have some speedy proteges but with ALOT of money lol. and even they are limited by the FWD
