your instruction is in english though right? picture this as someone teaching you algebra in a foreign language with dissimilar alphabet and grammatical structure.

I don't know. It is just an intense course. I am not doubting that it sucks and is super hard, but learning how to do anything new is tough. Some of the summer courses that I took were a whole year's worth of lecture and programming condensed into 5 weeks. Basically I did like 3 all-nighters a week for 5 weeks. Then when that 5 weeks was over, the next five week course started. After that, regular semesters felt great!

yea this sucks. i have to be able to speak about high school Farsi in 47 weeks of instruction.

When you are finished, you will appreciate it. I wish I knew more languages. I took Spanish in high school, then didn't use it for like 9 years, and then got a job in a company that was started and run by Spanish speaking people. They spoke English too, so I could know what they were talking about. I worked there for two years. I still don't speak, but I can understand it pretty well. It makes you appreciate them though. Some people talk s*** because somebody that was born and raised in another country and then moves here can't speak English as well. Those are usually the people that can't speak a word of anything else.

Dude we dont care about ur class stop making a new thread every day about it.
I kind of agree, even if Rism is joking. I could post pictures of my mechanical engineering problems every day, but I'm pretty sure nodoby cares. No offense, just telling you that you're not any worse off than anyone else in college. Who here wants to see some frequency response functions? Nobody? Ok

Oh, you're at the DLI. Yeah, I've heard...... It will be over before you know it. Keep at it at do a good job so you get an offer from the NSA down the road.

I would like to do some failure rate analysis equations this morning! Instead I am just going to write a couple of letters though.

When are we ever going to use that language, just to translate what Al-Quida says and types on thsoe video footage

That isn't the kind of thing he'll be translating.....

If there's one thing American's need more of, it's exposure to other languages and cultures. Instead of just reading about it in class. I'm glad my son is learning spanish, and now we just found out our daughter was invited to go into 2nd grade next year in a multicultural school next fall and will start learning spanish that early. That or Chinese would be the best long term. Being born a basic white small town farm boy, I can tell you my career would be greatly enhanced had I grown up with a second or even third language. I was in my early twenties before I learned what was going on in the world, and that the world was a lot bigger than just America. [puts soapbox away]

damn thats some cool s*** u know how to write in that language...i got a hard enought time wiht english still and i been workin it for 20 years

You're getting paid to do that. Sh'up.

lets face it.... some people have an affinity to learning new languages... others don't. The majority of the population in north america have an extremely difficult time learning new languages... this dramatically decreases as you move Europe and Asia.

I couldn't do what you have to do Matthew. I have a difficult time with French....

Dude, don't sweat over it. Your DLAB scores reflected that you would be able to handle it, so handle it.
Look on the bright side: you're only 30 minutes away from Laguna Seca.
