Another Engine goes Boom

:
MSP
well Saturday night i started to leave my friends and as i accelerated i heard a horrible knock. It was extremely inconsistent but completely obvious. It sounds like its coming from the #1 cylinder....Which is amazingly the same one that was flooded with gasoline last month when my PCM went haywire! My only guess is that a tensioner on the timing chain has broke loose and the chain is loose and rattling or its pistonslap. It does not make a noise during idle but when revved to about 3k it begins to kick in. Im calling Mazda corporate tomorrow to check on the lemon law because of all the problems ive had with my car.

Everyone please Read PAGE 8

YOu might want to kill your sig and also I hope that Mazda does not know of your goodies

Matt

BTW ,what problems have you had with your car?

I have had a ton and I cant even get Mazda to fix the damage that the dealer did to my car when swapping a new motor in.

Yep, sounds like a rod bearing. Could be any number of things, but that's my first guess. If that's what it is, find out if it was the upper half of the bearing. If you're getting detonation, the upper half takes the brunt of it.

yea, to be a lemon you have to have the same problem 3 times i believe?
Depends on the state but yes.And after the third time if its not fixed correctly then its a lemon. It also has to be out of your possesion for a certain amount of time for repair.
Matt

Im not worried about the FMIC and stuff. I know everyone is big on the voiding of warranties but I have already won that battle before. Also i dont believe that its a rod because of how inconsistent it is. it sounds like something is bouncing around and if it was a rod i would here it at idle.

And since everyone is going to argue about the Mod thing....please dont waist your time because mazda already knows about them and has pics. They have to prove that they are the cause and i really dont think they are gonna be able to do that. My mods are not going to cause internal damage. Secondly i asked them last month when they found a puddle of gas in my #1 cylinder if they checked for any damage and they said i had nothing to worry about and now ive got a knock coming from that side of the engine. Seems fishy to me.

damn sorry to hear about that, well you dont have a timing chain and if your tensioner was gone, your engine would be more jacked up. so it idles perfectly??? exactly how many pounds were you boosting and what abt the ecu? did mazda do any work to that, cause im trying to figure what you meant that it went haywire??

All I can say is good luck!

I still want to know of the problems you have had with the car.
Matt

yes but a fmic changes the intake charge/ power(which puts more stress on internals), so they might try to blame that on it. Just letting you know so you aren't dissapointed when they won't replace s***.

I appreciate it. Im calling corporate in the morning. Im really disappointed with my car. Not mazda but my car. I feel that i shouldnt be having issues like the ones ive had on a new car.

I hear ya. But I am definently prepared to get a lawyer. This is why im going straight to corporate. I havent even had my car towed to the dealer yet.

I didnt have 4K miles on my car when the motor let go.Talk about disapointment with a new car!I think I had the first blown motor in an MSP.I have had a slew of problems with my car but have yet to go the route of making Mazda buy it back.

what were the issues?
Well the simple stuff.....bushings, hood squeeks, 2 bad radios, flickering lights, then we get into a flooded engine, pcm gone bad, and now a knock and complete loss of oil (which didnt drain out and i couldnt find a trace of it burning)

Yeah, i just want them to make this right. I dont feel that its asking too much, but we will see. Im just gonna be professional and tell them the situation.
