Another blown engine.

You can get around that, get the stock oil pan tapped for the return line. Most shops will charge around $30 for that.

Isnt that like gettho rigging the pan though?
It sure does not sound safe lol, could you explain a little bit more plz.
I can tell the mechanic if hes willing to do that if he thinks its safe.

It's safe, people have been doing it that way for a long time. It's not the best way but it works. It's just a tube into the oil to drain the turbo that you need. I priced that oil return part too it's way expensive.

MSP returns arent in the pan...Did you destroy the Main Girdle?
If so..He will still have to by a Main Girdle which is $300+ from a regualar protege...Might aswell get the MSP one to keep it stock.

You broke this part didn't you...

Yeah I think thats the one that broke, I didnt see it yet. My mechanic told me about it that it was $380 at the dealer.

Yeah that's the part that's expensive and it sounds like the shop will replace another protege motor for him but not that girdle. They want him to buy that part. You can put the return into the oil pan a lot cheaper.

Dude..If the Girdle is broken....MSP one or not..he still needs a new one and the regular one is like $340...Why not spend $40 more and get the right part.

You are failing to see the point..HIS GIRDLE IS BROKEN AND NEEDS REPLACED....Is that clear enough?

He doesn't need an oil pan..and even if he does..he still needs a Main Girdle..and they are about the same price for a regular 2.0L one or an MSP one with a drain in it.

From what he has said it sounds to me like the shop is willing to replace the motor with a used one. A used motor will most likely come with the girdle. It's an expensive piece to replace so I'm just recomending a few options. I did say its not the best way to do it but it is the cheapest.

No..its not used..Its a new Replacement Rebuilt like he purchased before.

If you knew what you were talking about..Jasper is an Engine rebuilding company.

He bought a motor from Jasper and had a shop install it.
The motor has a warranty , but that warranty does not cover incidental damages to other parts.

So now...now that I have described this for you..I hope you see where the problem now lies.

He is responsible for all of the other associated broken items and fluids as he stated earlier in this thread...had you read it clearly...and maybe looked up what Jasper was.

Sometimes..when you are not sure about what you might be trying to argue about..Its just better not to. (ugh)

I understood he had a shop put an engine and they were going to warranty another one for him.

Thyey arent the ones doing the warranty..Jasper does.
Jasper sends the new Engine..Jasper pay the shop to install it...Now tell me how that "SHOP" is doing this for him.
They are Getting paid to do the work.

I am telling you..if you dont know what your talking about..ts better to stay quiet.
With every post from you..your hole gets a bit deeper.

lol don't get mad over that, I just understood it wrong I guess. So they build motors, maybe they built one wrong. Why should he have to pay for any engine part?

It called Incidental damages...Its an Engine rebuilder...Large company who does this

An Incidental damage as this was , is when the engine failed..It damaged a part they did not supply..so its not covered..Only the parts they supplied are covered under this warranty.
This goes for fluids as well.

It's like when a part fails on your car if you have it fixed by a shop....The part is covered..but the labor is usually not. This is because the shop didn't manufacture the defective part..Merely installed it at your request.
They get paid to do the job again.
sometime labor is covered for a short period of time depending on the part...Maybe up to 12 months or X amount of miles.

You get brakes from Midas.
Lifetime warranty...
You pay labor each time the pads are replaced.

Just look at their site...Maybe you will get a better understanding.

That's gay. So midas does your brakes, they fail and you crash your car they'll cover the brakes. No way that's cool with me. To me it should be a part they repaired failed and damaged other parts, they should cover the repairs, it's business and they need to keep costs down. They probably do a lot of motors too. Lets move on.

Bump

Do you understand the concept of Incidental damages now though?

Yeah I know how it goes, I was stuck on they were just an engine supplier. Like used motors.

hehe no need to argue, I appreciate the help from all of you.
and I was a little confused too, but I think the shop did meant the girdle instead of the oil pan, or maybe both. So I guess the best choice is just to let him buy it off the dealer for the $380 and get my car back ASAP so things are not delayed.

Were not arguing..we got it squared away.
All is good.
Good luck to you with your engine.
