Another blown engine.

Yup, sucks to say the least, but oh well...gotta move on.

No idea how it happened to be honest, I was making a turn and shifted at like 15mph to second and when I reached 20mph I felt like the engine fell out of the car. Engine shut off obviously, and I rolled up the car to a gas station that was right there within a few feet. Checked to see what happened and all I see is a trail of oil following the car, and a puddle of oil under it.

I had just gotten an oil change 4 days prior to this, Mobil 1 10-W30 Extended Performance to be exact.

I went ahead and called the repair shop to let them know I was gonna leave my car there, called the towing company and dropped it off.

They checked yesterday what happened and theres a hole behind the 4th Cylinder, no idea what caused it yet, but we'll see.

Hoping that Jasper Engine, which is were I bought my engine from covers most expenses along with a new engine. Granted Im going to have to pay some money out of my pocket, Ill be happy if at least another motor is sent my way without too much hassle.

Right now Im scared to push this car when I get it back as I followed every precaution there is, over mainteined it, and still look what happened on a 10K mile engine.

Here is some pictures (cell phone pics so quality is blah) :

Man, I feel exactly the same way. I'm always thinking my LSD could give or my engine could blow at any moment.

Thanks for the ulcer, Mazda. (fu)

By the way, really sorry for your troubles, Danny. What are you going to do now?

that oil looks a little dark to be changed four days ago... you say you had the oil changed or did you change it yourself?

I bought the oil, and a shop did it for me, in front of me. The oil had around 150 miles on it if that helps.

Thanks matrix, Im still waiting for the place that sold me the engine to give me an answer if they are going to cover the damages or not.
The first thing that popped to the mind was the LSD too, since its still the factory one, however, it wasnt :(

It was a stock engine, no upgraded internals.

I dunno, I really dont feel confident in this car anymore.
I did everything as recommended, and after 10k miles this is the result.

yeah the LSD and stock Rods add stress to my life everytime i drive the car don't get me wrong i love it and i understand that you can abuse a car but come on it seems like if you were going to buy a turbo'd car with race inspired suspension and looks you could floor the car with out risking a stress induced heart attack from the fear of your s*** exploding. Someone else just blew their s*** to its that "sad day" thread

The oil looks abused...anyway, is the common failure on this engine, rod #4, if you can check the bearings of that specific rod.

Could be oil starving.

You are, just a matter of time. Mine should have blown a long time ago with the abuse that I've put it through. We all are, so everyone go out and buy forged rods and pistons so they'll start to mass produce parts and be cheaper. At least that will help everyone out a bit.

like I said, oil was changed 4 days prior to the incident, right in front of my eyes 4 qts of mobil 1 extended performance were put in the engine. I did now check the oil level since I tend to do it weekly, but after 4 days Im sure it coulndt have lost too much without any noticeable leaks.

real sorry dude, good time to go forged i suppose

nope, Im lucky most likely the place where I bought the engine from will cover most expenses and provide another engine. If they confirm that it was a faulty part I will go ahead and keep the car for a few years, if its not and just blew up out of nowhere, then I will reconsider just selling the car and stop trying to make this car fast.

good news kind of, Jasper engines approved another engine for the car, however, they refuse to pay for damaged parts, fluids, gaskets, and some other small things. So probably will get the car back this week, Id say wednesday+ or so, but I have to pay around $500-600 to get it back (oil pan alone is $380, argh).

I still dunno what Im going to do, if I should sell or keep it and be scared its gonna blow up everytime I drive it. argh
