Amp/ohm question

With a 4 channel 2ohm stable JL audio e4300, is it ok to run 4ohm fronts and 2ohm rears?

In theory yes this should be fine... what type of set up are you working with, more info would definitely help

i have that amp... i think you will be fine... what are you planning on for the years? 1 dvc sub or two 4ohm subs ?

I have 2 Polk 6x9 SUBS that are 2 ohms. I think I may try them in the rear deck for mids. I wonder if the JL on-board crossover will be enough. I was selling them, but I think I may give it a shot.

What'd those come out of a Mercedes or something??? My 2cents on those is that you may be wasting your time and not improving your sound quality at all... That setup should work fine though based on what you have.

came out of a polk sub box with 4 of these. 2 mounted facing each other :

Weird...my instincts are telling me that they may not sound right outside of that enclosure but I could definitely be wrong

just talked to JL tech support, they said no problem. 4ohm fronts and 2ohm rears.

amp-wise, yea no problem it would be the same as bridging your rear channels and running your fronts directly. Sound-wise, you DO stand to gain something, jsut make sure you've got things crossoedover alright. I'd not worry about actives, and simply us the amplifiers XO's atleast those are adjustable. However, someone here had a good point, out of a box simply playing "freeair" you're not going to get ALOT of bass responce. If there' anyway to sealup some airspace behind them, you'd be much better off, but as with anything. fire 'em up and give it a shot... If you like the results you win!

i can fab up two boxes that mount in those holes , i bet.

Try to keep the air space the same size as the box they were in... since there were 4 figure you want each of those small boxes to be 1/4 the air space of the original. Do that and it should be pretty good. A box like that won't be hard to make, it's mounting it to the rear deck that's a pain
