2003 Mazda Protege
Hey all, I have a question before I purchase my Alpine CDE-143BT for my 2003 Protege sedan.

It says on Crutchfield it is a modified fit, and need to cut the rear bracket out from the back of the Head Unit pocket...

Is this difficult to do? Also how do I remove the headunit after I install it with the Metra kit?

Crutchfield stuff comes with detailed instructions on how to install anything they sell. If you run into a problem, you can give them a call and they will walk you through it. I bought an Alpine unit and speakers for my MX6 and had no problems with their excellent procedures.

Crutchfield said the same thing to me for the Protege 5... but I found the alpine deck to actually be shorter than the stock deck by a couple of mm... so I don't know why they're saying that. Only thing I had to do was pop the antenna wire holder off and flip the wire around and snap it back on so I could plug my antenna in. (screwy)
