Aftermarket Backup Camera with Mazda OEM Screen

Do any of these aftermarket cameras include the ability and instructions to calibrate the parking reference lines to your particular vehicle install?

I use the reference lines on the OEM camera display in tight spaces all the time and they are very useful. I would hate to do body damage due to inaccurate reference lines!

AFAIK the 'lines' are fixed as part of the camera electronics. Thus, only accurate for a given mounting angle and height.

Having some issues with my install. I have the power wire tapped off of the reverse light, made a connector to plug in video and shield to the 4 plug receptacle at the back of the stereo, and no dice. Can't get it to activate when in reverse.

When i go into the diagnostic menu for the low camera test, 92, I very briefly see an image then it cuts out. Not sure what is going on. Is using reverse for power causing it to not function?

Using the esky 107-70 camera

Slightly the same issue, I got everything wired up and when I go to the diagnostic screen the image shows up nice but when I start the car and put it in reverse it doesn't switch to the camera view. Can anyone help? Got it powered in the rear and have the rca looking cable going up front to the connector I got on eBay.

Not sure if it is the case with Mazdas, but with some vehicles (Toyotas for instance), the camera has to be wired to an acc. or ignition source and not to the reverse trigger light. If the headunit isn't seeing a video signal it won't switch over when in reverse. Some cameras don't have a quick enough turn on which can also cause the issue.

Alright I'll try that. Wouldn't it cause the camera to stay on the screen the whole time tho?

The new cars, don't have a constant 12V at the rear bulbs. They get some kind of can bus signal. I had the same issue with my previous VW. That 12V it seemed to me like a pulsed signal, rather than a constant straight signal.

Ding ding. Thanks I hooked it up to the gray signal wire on the rear wiper and it works perfectly! Appreciate it

Bought this camera https://www.ebay.com (commissions earned) for $10 shipped and spent yesterday afternoon and then..........

Made my own connectors and powered it by the rear power outlet. I'm happy with it(headbang). This is on a 2014 fwd sport with 5.8" screen, base radio w/Bluetooth, no navi.

just finished mine and the camera looks exactly like yours total cost 30$ - 20 for the harness and 10 for the camera thanks for the help. can someone take a picture of the stock camera just curious how that looks compared to aftermarket .

Maybe I've missed it, but is there a post on here that shows how to take the camera 4-pin connector to a yellow RCA plug? I have a Pioneer AVH-x3700 that I've recently installed (works great btw) and I want to add a backup camera. All the awesome posts on here have me pretty squared away for the install and power but I am not sure how this last part should work. Thanks!

Any info where to get the right harness? Looking through many threads but still cannot make sure which harness.

That's the best tutorial I've ever seen do you have one for the new mazda 6 se nav wagon
camera install

so i installed this camera https://www.ebay.com (commissions earned) but the camera is angled too much downwards, mostly pointing at the pavement . now i need to make a small angular shim to tilt the camera a little bit upwards. i think anyone that purchased a similar camera will have the same problem. im disappointed that the seller did not mention this issue but otherwise the camera works fine and is easy to install

If one has a 12v camera, can it simply be powered off a source in the rear hatch and only run the RCA yellow connection up to the adapter plug to the head unit? Or must it be 6v?

here are pictures of the exact and only 12v constant wire that works with the aftermarket camera when car is on. it is the gray wire that you see spliced open with the red camera wire soldered to it.

i bought adapter from here https://www.ebay.com (commissions earned)

and bought this camera; which is by far the best i've ever used, only camera i've used that has clear vision with color at night time https://www.ebay.com (commissions earned)

For some reason my camera wont work when connected to that wire. I previously had it connected to the rear +12V cargo plug, but want to remove it due to battery drain as the camera will be consuming a bit of power even with the car off.

There is no need to splice the wires, use this camera that has a voltage range 6V to 24V:

And this adapter that plugs in the back of the radio. The camera will be powered with the 6V from the radio. You need to connect the 4 pins and the adapter comes with 2 pins only, so it is required to buy 2 adapters to use the 4 pins.

40 bucks in total and you are done.

Has anyone tried this 'OEM Integrated Backup Camera System' from emeraldintegrations.com? Not a bad price if it is good quality and plugs right in.

Actually, this may be the same thing on ebay.

I have also seen a few camera systems for sale that mention 'dealer activation required'. A shop nearby also mentioned that there might be some dealer activation required when hooking up to the head unit. Hss anyone encountered this?
