afr's problem

Where the wastegate and manifold meet would only leak air post-combustion...so that wouldn't be "metered" anymore. Check IC pipes, etc, etc.
you're correct, and yes, it was the ic pipe...coupling came loose because the clamp broke(argh)! fixed the "post combustion" leak, all is good in the protege world again...miles of smiles!! :)

Sucks that the damn clamp broke on you...good to hear she's running good again though!!
 
Maybe your driving habits/style are influencing the reading. If your afr's are good while in boost why worry?

ya, but i'll take a broken clamp over some if the other issues i could have had! thanks again for your assistance!!:D
