Sunroof weatherstripping damage after car wash - problem?

I went to car wash my new CX5 and found that the pressure washer did some damage to the sunroof weatherstripping.
Is this a concern? Can this cause leaks? Should it be replaced?
Thank you

Ouch!

How close did you have the nozzle to the weatherstripping?

This was done by the wash operator 😞
Question is, should this be replaced or can it be safely left as is without causing any leaking issues

Dunno about the leaking. It may not be now but the way it looks, it's not going to hold up in the long run.

Did you draw this to the attention of the carwash operator?

It doesn't look like there is a puncture all the way through, but I personally wouldn't risk it.

You could try replacing the weatherstripping. The part can be found here for $42, but the old piece would need to be removed and the new piece installed. You may need to have a shop do that, so I would shop around for a quote to have the work done, then present that quote and the part price to the carwash's general manager, explaining that the carwash operator caused damage to your vehicle.

Bear in mind that since you've likely already left the carwash after this happened, there's no way to prove that the carwash operator was the one who damaged it. They could deny any wrongdoing, but it's still worth a shot.
