But to start things off I am driving a 07 cx-7 AWD with 27k miles I drive for a living so I am on city/highway traffic 8hrs a day.

on a full tank of 91 Sunnoco gas I am getting between 300-335miles

Now prior to getting these results I was driving my car in manual mode thinking I would increase my mpg False when driving in manual your rpms are not running in constant speed so your rpms would fluctuate on my end it was between 3k to 5k depending on traffic and speed increase.

Now that I drive in auto my rpms run between 2.5k and 3.5k rpm
my mpg has gone from 240miles on a tank to 300-335miles I do not drive aggressively but I am not driving like grandma either.

some people would say put in 93 is a few cents higher and its better gas I am living proof that putting 93 will get you maybe a bit higher mpg I do mean a bit and almost non noticeable. So stick with 91 and save the few cents. I have my tires at set at 38psi

I believe the reason people are getting bad gas is because of the way they drive, in and out of lanes, slowing and speeding up come on now I dont have to tell you your gas result will show.

1st picture shows 117miles on 1 quater tank and the last is when I got gas because the light just came on

* This time i got 301 because I was carrying some weight in the car work tools and supplies I needed that remained in the car most of the time.

Yeah so it seems but it all depends on how you drive this applies to any car.
(first) waiting on my lease to end however so I can get something better, because the way gas is going I will end up with a horse and buggy.

No look into a Corolla, I think it's great. My sister has the older model not the newest one but it's nice. Torque is always there for city driving and is super comfy/quiet on the inside. As for MPG....even driving it hard I got an easy 27 MPG.

I just finished a 4 tank average of 21.19 MPG with a SD of 0.53. 2007 FWD in ALL Suburban easy driving. I found no difference in 91 or 93 octane with respect to performance or mileage. My experience with this and other turbo cars is to use a steady throttle and let the AT doe the work. Let the car come up to speed on its own and not push it and then back off the throttle when you get to your desired speed. I frequently due a hard push to ~5000 rpm when merging and don't drive like an old man either.

Dude you just put that stupid Kia commercial into my head the way you just described comfy and mpg.

Let the sunshine in LMAO(peep) welcome to Rondoism

thats good to hear. i'm hoping the wife will have similar numbers in hers.....time will tell.

is yours AWD?

Yes my ride is awd sport Liquid Plat

* By the way a tip 3m has released a new product called performance finish this wax gives the car a sleek brilliant wet shine highly recommended the car looks awesome. People have asked me what I did to the car to get it to that shine. Works better then mcguires

that's a great millage, I don't have the 300 with my cx, but now I will try not passing the 3.5 K, let's see what happen now.

I am also getting about 320-330 miles/tank regularly and my 7 has about 24,500 miles now. This car took longer than most to "break in" the engine. I'm averaging 20 mpg now in 60/40 driving so I guess that I should be happy given the power/weight ratio of this car but part of me still thinks that a 4-cyl turbo should be doing better. Overall this is one of the best cars that I've owned, it really does have it all except for fuel efficiency. The problem is at about $75 per fill-up I don't know how long I'm going to keep her...if gas hits $5/gallon in the next year like some predictions indicate, it's bye bye CX-7. Probably back to a Civic Si, sedan this time. Anyone else considering giving up their CX-7 due to the cost of driving one?

By the way has anyone checked the trade-in value of our CX-7s and also seen what they are selling for used at dealerships!? A 2007 CX-7 sport AWD like mine is going for around $18K retail which seems like a larger than normal drop in value. However, trucks and bigger SUVs have depreciated even more with this horrible economy. Bad time to trade in a truck or SUV that's for sure.

Hell no. I'm not giving up my CX7 no matter what the price of gas becomes. I will just be more liberal in accelerating. I will probably consider getting another car that gives me a fuel economy in the 30s range to be my daily drive. So the CX7 is here to stay.

I sold new and preowned vehicles for 4 1/2 years and i loved when gas prices changed.people always think buying a new vehicle or another saved them money. you trade your car, you will lose on the depreciation-if you dont want it for the gas, you really think other people will? you buy a second car...unless cheap and you do the math and it works out for you- you end up with sales tax..personal propery, upkeep, maintenance, insurance, etc. i traded in a 26-28mpg car for my cx-7..i get about 23 avg so far and for what i bought, worth the money. i gained the utility i needed and sacraficed a few mpg..defintely worth it. I mean really if you cant afford 4 dollar gas, you cannot afford 5 dollar gas. ...sorry venting

Just for a minute I thought about trading in the 7 just as many others with SUVs/trucks have done with the gas prices continuing to rise. Before you talk about not being able to afford $4 gas you might want to ask about my financial situation. In honesty we could afford a much more expensive car but I've always been a Mazda fan and have owned three now so I am loyal to the brand. My point is that I don't want to get 20 mpg at $4+ per gallon. I mean at some point enough is enough, right? I'm also coming from a 31 mpg car so I do have some buyer's remorse from time to time. I'll see what people are saying on here when gas does hit $5/gallon. I may be wrong but let's wait and see what happens. Don't get me wrong I love my 7 but I'm not so in love with it that I can't point out it's one major flaw and that is the mileage.

This vehicle was never intended to be a gas sipper

If you were looking for a vehicle with your primary concern being gas mileage then yes you made a poor choice.(screwy)

Very mature my man, nice... I think that Mazda even marketed the CX-7 as a "fuel efficient" sporty compact SUV when it first came out. I've never come close to the 24 mpg original highway rating on my window sticker and I don't drive it hard. I also had a 98% interstate commute for months and never got over 20 mpg. So yes if I went by Mazda's numbers, thinking they were accurate, I did make the wrong choice. There are more powerful SUVs out there getting better mileage than the CX-7, maybe Mazda should put a V-6 in the next gen 7?

like wat they might be more powerful but teh flipside to the smal engine is gud handling. they never said fuel effiecent.. sporty yes gas sipper no

My last four vehicles have exceded the EPA fuel mileage figures and that includes my CX7. Maybe it is a driver thing or driving downtown in Chicago during rush hour?
