deckedoutmp5 said:all it needs is a slightly modded adapter plate. the svt 6 speed is a pretty good tranny. the gearing is way better then a msp and in drag racing its nice because you can hold on to 4th better. i am not saying the msp rebuilt couldnt hold up, ANY tranny i decide to go with will have to be fully rebuilt. I just wanted a 6 speed, they have been awesome trannys. lots of people in our car club have them and NEVER have had a problem. with or with out the JRSC. also turbo tom uses them and has gottem them up to 450 whp and not a problem (granted they have been rebuilt) and also his new stuff hes been using autos because they are better for racing. it wont take lots of money, it just takes lots of time. (money for the rebuild yes, but expected no matter what). I will probobly stick with the rebuilt MSP with stage 4 clutch and 7 lb fly wheel. but who knows, i have to many toys to finish or play with right now, my protege is just a thing to dink with. wow where is the support on this board. its like if you want to try something that no ones done you get flamed. grow a set and go out and do something, you learn by doin.

I just read some of this thread but it isnt that easy to do a conversion to a bell housing that doesnt match up. The biggest problems you will face with something like this is clearance. Yeah you could make custom mounts but thats not what i mean. The input shaft on the tranny, custom axles, etc. Because you cant take up all that space you are gaining by adding the adapter plate.
There is TOO TOO much involved. I would rather see someone say that they will try to put the motor and trans from a zetec in rather than bolt up to a 2.0 fs.
s*** if i were to swap guys i would just go AWD and put a subbie or mitsu driveline in. At least make it a first 3rd gen AWD protege hybrid. That would be a worth while project IMO
i can agree whole heartedly with this statement.StuttersC said:Just the import the drive train form the all-wheel drive Protege in Japan. That'd be easier than trying to shove someone elses drive train in.
(werd) remember deckedoutmp5 most protege owners did'nt buy their ride because they wanted to build a super fast car. From my experience most owners have'nt spent any serious time tunning cars before . Most have never had a car with more then 250 whp or even 150 whp for that matter . They are not use too challenges like a 450whp protegedeckedoutmp5 said:all it needs is a slightly modded adapter plate. the svt 6 speed is a pretty good tranny. the gearing is way better then a msp and in drag racing its nice because you can hold on to 4th better. i am not saying the msp rebuilt couldnt hold up, ANY tranny i decide to go with will have to be fully rebuilt.
