3in or 2.5in exhost piping

It all dpeneds what you want out of your car in the long run. If your not getting an FMIC,intake, tuning system...etc get 2.5. If you know/think your going to be modding down the road I'd say 3 if the price is right. :)

Damm that is crazy cheap are they mandrel bends and is it from the the outlet flange back? (cheers) (msptitani

2.5" unless you want to go for big numbers
True, True should check out that post in force induction about Exhaust theroy, wish I would have seen that before I ordered my parts for my custom exhaust. If I am wrong on the info above, forgive me I am a little drunk. LOL(laugh)

2.5 is enough... Your car is not a SKYLINE GTR and your turbo will never boost 20 PSI...

Depends on the bends

I agree with you if it is mandrel bends, but I ended up with 3" the whole way because I was only getting crush bends. At the worst (the section of pipe that runs over the rear axle) the inner diameter of my exhuast pipe is about 2.6-2.75". There is a reduction in flow here, of course, but as you say it ain't no monster turbo, nor is my car pushing 20 PSI. So 2.6" I can live with.

The exhaust is going to be after the flex bolts. (bolts with springs)
The guy thats doing the exhaust usually does them for $125 without a flexpipe but he wanted it bolt on and the o2 dung needs to be installed also.

The exhaust is starting after the flex bolts so a flexpipe isnt needed. He wants 3in but I told him to get 2.5in so the low end power is still felt. I have 3in on my car and it took me over a week to get use to the low end power change.

The exhaust is going to be crush bent so maybe he should get 3in.

I took his exhaust off just to hear and see if it made a difference. It was taken off after the cats, it sounded pretty good but it felt slow as hell?? I guess the lack of backpressure?? I thought the turbo would supply all the backpressure??

3" should be good but I wouldnt have 3" from the turbo back. I have a 3" cat-back w/ 2 1/2" mid-pipe and have no low end torque issues, I would do that personally. Since it is crush bent I would go 3"

you will not have any low end torque "issues" with a 3" turbo back... the turbo is providing a big enough restriction. people don't think about the turbo as an exhaust restriction, but it is.

there are minimal gains between 3" and 2.5". but there is maximum gains between stock and 3".

Thats what I said....

I just thought that the car would "feel" slower with a 3in exhaust. Like I said, we took his exhaust off after the cats. The car was slow!!!! and the boost was upped.

"the best exhaust for a turbo is the least exhaust......Back pressure in an exhaust system is evil"- Corky Bell

meaning you cant go too big....

but honestly, too big will just make it loud (less effective at muffling the sound)... so go as large as your ears can stand
