I bought mazda 6 gt wheels, 18 X 7 offset 55.

I was planning on buying 215/40/18, any problems with that?

I live in Qubec (Canada) and the roads are awfull

Thanks!

I would warn you against going with 215/40s on those wheels. I have (probably) the same wheels, and with the high offset of the wheels, those tires will probably rub the struts. I am very close to rubbing the struts with 215/35/18s. This is true for Tokico shocks or any stock shocks.

His car is not a strut suspension.

Looks Badass!!!!! What wheels are those?

Well the OP said that he bought Mazda 6 GT wheels, not that he had a Mazda 6. He doesn't say what kind of car it is but since this is the MSP section I was assuming it was a Protege.

18sOnAir - the wheels on my car are from a 6 GT as well, so I assume they're the wheels the OP was talking about.

From his first post on the froum...

Hi

I have a protege 2002 2.0l N/A and I've bought a turbo kit from a Mazdaspeed 2003. I was wondering if I could just plug and play, considering that I have everything (turbo, hoses, intercooler, ecu, exhaust....)

Are the timing and compression the same, and will the msp ecu work with my setup. Do I need anything else??

what is the safe limit for the boost pressure.

Thanks.

Ben

It would help if you filled out your profile and made everyone aware of what kinda car we are talking about here... thanks:)

lolz I think people on this forum need practice reading ALL parts of a thread. Thanks jeg! And thanks for digging up the info on Ben's car. Unless he's running full coilovers my original assessment stands - the 215/40s WILL rub on the struts if the wheels are the same as mine. Even if you run spacers chances are the tires may be too tall to fit properly under the spring perches on the struts.

Yeah, a little attention to detail and research never hurt anyone. lol

I never noticed how close the rims really come to the struts in the rear untill I checked mine today after reading this thread. I only have 205/45/17's and its already about half an inch or so from the strut. And like you said, even with spacers the fronts may be too tall under the springs in the front.

Thanks everyone! Sorry I didn't mention my car, I assumed that I was in the msp section. My car is a 1999 protege se, the engine is a 2002 N/A protege on which I added a turbo. I converted the rest of the car like a Msp, (suspension, brakes, exterior, interior...) So I was just wondering if someone was running 215/40/18 on his car. I'm a bit afraid of buying 215/35/18.
