Ok, so this is the MP3 stock tire size.... I'm about out of tread and am not sure whether to get 45's again or go 40.. What do you guys think?

Your speedometer will read a 3.3% error too fast. Why would you want to go more expensive tires? If anything would you go wider, like 225 as opposed to 205? I suggest getting 225/40-17

If you go 205/40-17 your speedometer is reading 60mph, you will actualy be going 58mph. And it gets worse the faster you go.

goog god, that's what I meant. I tookt he wrong number!!! Doh!

So the 40-45 is just lower profile right?

I would totally go 225 rather than 205.. But will those work with my wheels?

Sorry-talk about turbo's and I'm ok, but tires and wheels are new to me.

yeah 205 is the width of your tires in millimeters, 40-45 is the percent of THAT width - which comes out as your height of the tire(the profile). So 205/40-17 would be about 82 millimeters, I think that's right.

But if you want traction you go with the first number and make it bigger - as for the big question - would 225 fit on your 17"s....I dunno

I don't think 225's will fit w/o rub...RISHIE???

215's will work tho.

well I'm sure they would fit and NOT rub, the problem is getting them to fit on the rim.

I would figure that the 215/40/17 would be your best bet...A nice compromise between wider tire and not o much of a difference in wheel diameter.

However, it is a tough size to find.

the 225 will fit on a 7 inch rim...which the stock racing hearts are....but Rishie has told me that 225's WILL rub. go figure....HE, Rishie....our resident EXPERT recommends that widest tire to be a 215....a 215/40.

there are quite a few very good tires to pick from....just depends on your budget.

go to somewhere like Tirerack.com and use their search engine to locate the brands and models of tires that are offered in the size you want.
