2010 Mazda3 News

In case you've not seen it, the US version pics and video in the MazdaUSA site:

I like the subtle USDM extras (i.e. side skirts, LED tails)

I like those tails a bit better. I'm still a big fan of the euro style tails in the current gen. I could do without the red on the outer edges.

just a tought:

months ago i've see a Japanese magazine with photoshops of "the new axela"
there was 3 car's tails:

-an hatchback
-a sedan
-a NEW wagon version

i'm wondering if we'll see the 3 wagon (maybe in spring?)...almost here in EU (and JDM of course)

the mazda 5 is a mini minivan.

The Mazda 5 is a compact class economy wagon built on the Mazda 3 platform. It competes with the same vehicles the Mazda 3 hatch does. It's too small to compete with minivans.

We already have a Mazda 3 wagon, it's called the Mazda 5.
in Europe there is Focus Wagon AND C-Max, VW Golf SW AND Touran

almost here compact minivan and compact SW are different segments of te market.
in my opinion 3 SW will be a good alternative to Mazda6 SW (more compact and less expensive)

Mazda 5 it's for another type of customer (here in EU)

Yeah I think so too. Making some analogies:

Hatchback
: Mazda3 - VW Golf - Vauxhall/Opel Astra

Wagon: Mazda N/A - VW Golf Variant or VW Golf Estate - Vauxhall/Opel Astra Estate

MPV: Mazda5 - VW Touran - Vauxhall/Opel Zafira

Mazda3 vs. Mazda5, sharing a lot of underpinnings (cool), but that is pretty much it. But anyway, on topic, those analogies actually make the point that a Mazda3 wagon might sell in Europe (dunno)

Damn. I was hoping to see this car at the auto show. Funny thing was, the Mazda booth had this huge display with a big screen in the front, then hidden behind it was this years Mazda 3, but with 2 huge photos on canvas of the 2010 Mazda 3. I'm talking 3 times the size of the actual car type of photos. How odd.

All-new Mazda3 to be Exhibited at the 2009 North American International Auto Show

HIROSHIMA, Japan—Mazda Motor Corporation has confirmed that the all-new Mazda3 (known as Mazda Axela in Japan) four-door sedan and five-door hatchback models will be shown at the 2009 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), to be held in Detroit from January 11 through January 25, 2009.

All-new Mazda3 five-door hatchback & four-door sedan (both North American specification models)

Mazda first unveiled the fully redesigned, all-new Mazda3 sedan at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show, followed by the global reveal of the five-door hatchback model at the Bologna Motor Show in Italy.

Aimed at the young at heart, who love to drive and are technologically aware, the new Mazda3 is a completely new car from top to bottom and is still the most engaging car in its class. Both versions feature top-class environmental and safety performance, and offer evolved sporty driving performance, dynamic styling elements and a high-quality interior.

The Mazda3, one of the most popular models in Mazda’s lineup, saw two million units produced by the end of October 2008. The Mazda3 is also the first Mazda model to exceed its annual production volume for four consecutive years since its production commenced.

The all-new Mazda3 will go on sale in North America in the first quarter of 2009.

I'm actually really disappointed. I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but it's just not doing it for me at all. I was holding off on buying a 3 to see what the new ones looked like, now it's kind of become a "buy it before it's ugly" scenario.

Amazing little car. Top of its class by light years. All the negative comments reminds me of the jealous Protege owners when the 1st gen 3 came out.

No man, that front is just ugly. I'm glad I have a P5 and not that. Jealous... hardly.
