Has anyone heard if Mazda will have a 2002 MP3? If so, what kind of changes are they recommending? I figure that since they are releasing the Miata in the same two colors as the MP3 that they must be sticking with some of the concepts.

I haven't heard anything. If they do make them it won't be a large production run or we would have heard about it already.

Actually the deal is the MP3 is a 2001 thing only. It's called an Mazda Preformance Series (MPS for short) car. Basically Mazda is taking one of it's models each year and tuning it making it all spiffy. Rumors for next year is a 626. Who knows though.

Puccio, is right. That is what Mazda is doing. No MP3 next year!

Yep - only 220 MP3s for all of Canada.
I heard a different rumour from my sales rep. - that it might be the van that gets the MPS treatment next time around.

Damnit! NO 2002.....arghhhhh what about the protege5?....This setup would be awesome for the MP3 and protege5 > awd + turbo + great price! Take out the WRX...I would start to panic if the Lancer 280hp awd version hits the states....lol

Well, even without the Lancer EVO7, we still got smoked by most of the car. :(
I wish there is a supercharge kit~

That would be great, but adding a turbo and AWD might bump the price up to $23,500, which is, according to ChrisS, is "way too much for what you get."

Well, it's nice to see myself being miss quoted...

In the case of the Subaru, I think $25,000 is too much for a WRX. The 2.5 RS was $18-19,000 last time I checked. That 2.0 liter turbo isn't worth the extra $5-6,000to me. An aftermarket turbo would be a better bet on the 2.5 RS...But, that's just my opinion.

As for a Mazda with all-wheel drive and a turbo, I thought that's what the Sport 20 was. No turbo though. And, I'm not sure on cost there. But, would it be worth it to me? I don't know.

Maybe you should use the whole quote next time, keep it in context and it'll make a little more sense boppo.

As for the 2002 MP3, I've heard there will be one. I asked Mazda through the website and they said there will be one...They said it should be the same car. See what I posted in the other thread about this topic in the "Mazda General". I put quotes straight out of the e-mail reply I got from Mazda.

But as I said before, "I'll believe it when I see it."
