2.0 conversion to 1.8 Coil Packs

So for those who have done this, what do you do with the sensor attached to the bracket that is in the way of the new mounting location for new coil packs? What is that sensor?

That's just a capacitor for the ignition coils to ground. You don't even need it.

Just finished up. There's 5" of snow on the ground, and I only have 4" or so of clearance so I couldn't really do much in the way of testing. I did go for a test drive and have a couple observations. Whether they are placebos or not is debatable, as well discussed in this thread...

 1. I noticed immediately on startup that the car started quicker and smoother
 2. The car definitely seems to run smoother
 3. The car seems to rev way faster. Noticably faster... Odd, but very noticable!
 4. Felt very nice to drive. Felt like the car is finally awake from a long snooze...

Hello P5- welcome back!!!

the one with isnt painted yet but i could paint it if u wanted

I need some help. So earlier my car started bogging and didnt want to run right. Right away i new it was the coilpacks becuz i had done the 1.8L Conversion. I let them cool down and connected them back up. Has anyone had this problem? its running fine now but i did this to keep them cool becuz i had them mounted in the from where theyre normally suppose to go. should i get new coilpacks or see if these will still work? maybe they were acting stupid?

The coils very easily overheat. You can try removing the capacitor on the ground side of the ignition circuit, see if that helps.
