1st picture of the 2003.5 MSP in Titanium Grey

I don't think I like that new spoiler. Way to high, and yes, it has a "ricey" look to it. Damn, why did Mazda do this?

I've got 2 choices, trade my blue mp3 now for a really LOUD Orange, or wait for a dull gray with a really ricey spoler and no fogs....assuming there is no fogs. There's always Yellow, but I got my doubts about yellow as well....the woman hates it too.

Maybe I should just Turbo the MP3.

I don't really care for the spoiler, it looks weird that the two pieces below don't connect, if the did it would look better. I like the rear apron, but I think the muffler tip looks funny, it is to oval shaped, would need to be bigger in diameter to look better. I like the current tip better. I am sticking with the 2003 myself.

If you're collecting opinions, I think the new wing looks goofy(puke) ... it looks like one of those "pretend" wings they put on some domestic cars .... all looks, but they don't really do anything. When it comes to wings and spoilers, its nuts to put form over function.

Looks like an evolution wing to me. Would be kinda ghey on a non turbo car....but the mazdaspeed is turbo, I guess it's cool. The front is nasty though

I have to agree with most that the design got worse and worse. The rear skirt looks pretty good, but I really don't like the 2 'ridges' or whatever you call it at the center bottom of the bumper sticking out. Don't like the oval exhaust either. I think the shape of the wing is not so bad, but the section where it is mounted on the trunk just looks silly. Almost like a big piece of curled up foam tape that was slapped right on. I didn't like the front bumper either. What they did didn't really add anything aestetically to compensate the missing fog lights. It looks more generic now overall.

I don't know about you guys, but I always think the MP3 got the best looks. Like the cool MP3 badge(very designy look), very nice rims, interiors details, great color choices, and orange side markers(at least match nice with my yellow:) , even though I know clear side markers are quite popular nowdays). Then comes the 2003 Mazdaspeed, which IMHO, has different but inferior designs in all these areas. But the overall look is pretty close, and a better car of course. But now when we get to the 2003.5 MSP, even more good design elements were replaced by something worse, just so that they can call it different. Sometimes i just don't get it. Oh well, its still a great car, just not as cool looking as it should.

I think most of us can agree that these ".5" cosmetic changes were not for the better...what happened? BUT...some of the future members of this site will be owners of ".5s"...and I hope I will not see immature flamewars...Think about the big picture here people...this is turning into a Mazda legacy...the Proteg is not just another "compact car" its a very competitive platform that has and will continue to prove itself.

I just hope the MSP or (Mazdaspeed Mazda3) evolves into a car designed around factory turbo power.
