The wifes 97' 626 V6 had to have a clutch replaced (145,000 miles) my question is after she brought it home and a day or so later I finally got a chance to drive it to check this NEW clutch, it feels no different at all than it did before we took it in. By this I mean, 1-2 inches of play at the very beginning of depression, then 2-3 inches more and your foot is on the floor. When you start to release in first gear, the engage point is approx. 1 inch off the floorboard. This is exactly the way the clutch felt before taking it in. How does one check to verify that a new clutch actually 'WAS' installed?

Have them show you the old one...

agreed.

and you may have actually not needed a new clutch, just a pedal adjustment, OR flush of the brake fluid (same fluid the clutch uses)

You right,You just wasted your money or new clutch when it my be just the slave cyl and pedal adjustment.you can always do the adjustment yourself.its easy if you know what you doing and take less than 15min of your time.
