1/4 mile times with slip

if you use slicks on an 18" wheel, you're going to lose a lot of the benifit that comes with a wrinkle wall tire. I'd suggest going with a 16" wheel. I saw a nice setup with v6 mustang wheels. I don't know if the dude had a spacer or not, but I'm sure the wheels were hella cheap.

I wouldn't have said it if it wouldn't work. you just have to make sure you have the right offset... if not, spacers are always an option. just make sure you don't go overboard on the spacers, because it puts added stress on your wheel studs... or if you need a bigger one, they make some that bolt to the wheel studs and have their own new wheel studs to bolt the wheel to.

Cool
This is a subject for the tire and wheel forum.
I'll post there later may be some one already using a set.

My realistic wish list before I hit the track is:
CAI
MM
CF hood
Always looking for the CF hatch has to be the best quality
and front wheel drag or slick tires.

a carbon fiber hood won't do a lot of good on a front wheel drive car. you want to remove weight from the rear of the car. not the front where the drive wheels are. and for the price, you can do so many other better things. also, don't forget about all the ducting that is on the oem hood to push air through the intercooler. a new hood will have to do the same. you can't get one that is made for a regular 3.

The CF is about 11-15 lbs lighter, I would thing with the motor mounts and the drag tires could take care of traction issue.

I do also question a good quality hood that would work with the air duct.
It would have to be made by VIS for me to buy one.

My car only has 1k
I have a sunlight silver gt MS3

The hood isn't all that heavy on the MS3

when you lift the hood, you're only supporting a fraction of the weight, since the rest is being supported by the hinges at the other side. it's actually quite heavy. I don't think this is a big deal at all though as I mentioned before, as it is weight over the drive wheels. maybe in autocrossing, or track racing, it would be an issue, but not so much on the drag strip.

replacing the hood is last on my list of things to do.

also, you know what else takes care of the traction issue? learning how to launch correctly. people have pulled 2.1ish 60' times on cars that are very close to stock. if you're running anything more than 2.3 in that distance, slicks are not going to help that much. practice will help more than anything else. I have one of the fastest 60' times and I'm still not happy with it.

I can sure as hell TRY to do that. All I know is that I haven't gotten my launch nearly perfect yet, and I'm still at a 2.2 60'.

I think practice is the best mod you can get for any car.

I set my front tires to 29 psi and leave the rear a lone.

Are you lowering your tire pressure any? This would help some if you don't already. I agree 100% practice is the best mod

last time I had the fronts at 30. I'm thinking about going down to 28 or so. we'll see if that helps.

I do agree is 50% the drivers ability to handdle any car.
My car came with 18" Bridgestone's
I know some came with 18" Toyo's
So what times with what tires?
I'm going to break my car in till 9k before going to the track.

lol I just 5500 miles yesterday and I've been to the track twice. I've got the bridgestones.

jtspells- 2.398, 9.316 @ 80.63, 14.164 @ 102.19

Lucky 5th pass i guess lol
