What have you done to your CX-5 today?

Proud owner of a 2019 GTR in Machine Grey 😁

Installed the CorkSport SRI and upgraded Turbo Inlet Pipe a couple of weeks ago and just got the Axle Back Exhaust installed today…a little extra Zoom Zoom to make the driving experience more fun. Have the CorkSport lowering springs up next but still waiting on my Bilstein shocks and struts to arrive — they’re on national back order 😔

Which shocks? The B6's can't be used with a 2" lowering spring, as far as I know. You need the B8 for that but for whatever reason, they are not available for our car.

Video of exhaust sound with some turbo fun 💪

Sounds great!

I got both the B6 struts and shocks..funny you chimed in because I came across your post in a suspension thread about the shocks being too long just over an hour ago lol. CS mentioned on their website that customers have had success with B6’s but they may have only been referring to the struts so I’m not sure. I have KYB shocks currently—looked into KYB struts but doesn’t look like they manufacture them anymore for the CX-5. Ordered everything as a kit, will definitely report back. Vendor said probably another 3 weeks.

Thank you sir! Exciting stuff — very happy with the upgrades.

Yeah they make the B8 with its shortened body specifically for lowered cars. I remember being disappointed when I researched them and would likely already have them if it weren't for that.

You say you ordered everything as a kit? You mean the B6 shocks and the Corksport springs? Where is that sold as a kit?

Well that’s frustrating. I looked at B4’s also which are less slanted towards performance suspension and more of an OEM fit but those are on national back order too.

I ordered the B6 struts and shocks as a kit through Jack-It - pricing was better when you buy them as a bundle. I got the lowering springs directly through CS.

Ok, so the CS springs weren't part of the kit.

Yeah, the B6 may raise your ride height with the 2" lowering springs. There is a user with a 1 or 1.5" spring that got them to work with a different bump stop, but it still resulted in a small raise.

I appreciate you linking this..you’ve really done a deep dive. A lot to sift through but worth it, might be able to cancel the order and get refunded.

Nothing fancy. But a few days ago, went to pick up and install the factory all weather mats and cargo tray. Saturday, had a shop install clear protective vinyl over the headlights. This Friday, have an appointment to get the frameless auto dimming/Homelink mirror installed along with the factory hitch.

Just did an oil change at 672 miles to get the factory oil out to get any break in materials floating in the oil out of the engine. I'm considering doing another oil change at 1500 and 3000 miles. And then proceed with normal scheduled oil changes.

I do a 1,000 mile change (1,200 actually), then just regular changes after that. There is a benefit in the oil analysis for that but I don't know that multiple early changes are necessary.

I used to do the initial oil change to get the break in material out and then follow the normal oil changes after. But after seeing some content from Lake Speed where he was still seeing material from the engine breaking in up to 10,000 miles made me consider doing more oil changes. He emphasized multiple oil changes under 10,000 miles to ensure the longevity of the engine.

Yeah I saw that.

So far, mine have been at:

1202
4300
8630

IMO that's good enough. Consider that the manual calls for 7,500 miles...

I never did any of that. First oil change was at 5k. Engine seems fine.

That said, in the future I would probably follow a similar schedule for the break in period knowing more now than I did back then.

First at 2K, 2nd at 5K, then every 5k forever. Simple. I've been lead to believe that the factory oil contains additives to help break-in and that some particulates generated during breaking are beneficial. The oil filter also does a good job of trapping larger particles.

I think the factory oil is not special "break-in" oil, at least not from Mazda. It's sourced from Idemitsu. The filters from Tokyo Roki. They use almost entirely Japanese parts in their cars.

Most automakers have a 7,500 to 10,000 mile first oil change and that would never fly with a short-lived "break-in" oil.

It's Mazda hi-moly oil, developed for them by Idemitsu. Great stuff! Pricey, but it's all I've ever used in three Skyactiv G engines.
