The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Oh I'm done with my sales pitch. Back to random chat.

Everyone coming to the Winking Lizard in Fairlawn this Saturday?

Just got back from my honeymoon last night. Should be interesting to catch back up with everything.

Well your sales pitch earned you a pm. ;) Complete with noob questions. haha

Welcome home! Hope the honeymoon was fun!!!!

I'll be there, getting my missing H&R strut today from UPS so I am hoping to be on coilovers by the meet and I'll have my wheels back and possibly my new plates. She will be looking all pretty for the weekend :)

Jeff, I have a spare block with pistons and rods. Not enough for a complete engine but it might help ya.

Ooooo? Is this from the race car extras? Would def. help if I had the time to do it myself but not so sure my mechanic would be keen on using some parts that I brought in the door, know what I mean? :( That's what sux about needing it done asap to get it on the road.

Oooh, Patrick I want a ride in your car with the H&R's. I just ordered BC's (after much research) from CR3 but the H&R's were my other choice.

hmmm....might be interested depending on what I find out what's going on with the MSP...but it's going to be a while...

I have 2 spare blocks, pistons, rods, water pump and a few other parts. Corey said he'd be interested in 1, giving him some time since he just got back. The other one is up for grabs.

Jeff, if you were to bring in parts he's still charging you for labor which is his biggest profit margin (or should be). If you want them, let me know.

for sure, I feel like a little kid on Christmas and work can't go by fast enough. All I need is a RSB and I'll be good to go (waiting on the discounts from JBR through Marlon) Hoping it feels half as sweet as jake's and I'll be happy. But I went with the H&R just because of the warranty.
Oh and Evan, during your travels through akron could you keep and eye out for houses to rent? I'm looking in Akron/Stow/Tallmadge/Streetsboro/Hudson areas and could use all the eyes looking that I can have out there. Preferably with a two car garage. Apartment complexes just aren't doing it for me.

Sure, in that area houses aren't cheap though, especially with a garage. And barely existent on Craigslist ads. What's your budget and do you plan to have room mates?

When I was looking there are a few small houses with garages in SE Akron, East of Route 8 that weren't bad.

I was going to tell you yesterday that I was happy with my BC coilovers on the 3 (after got it all adjusted) so that should be a good option for ya

you could say i'm in the market for a new engine....any of you guys/gals know anyone? Hahahahahaha hey, gotta laugh. For those that don't check the protege section the car died on me saturday in ct on our way home from brickfair in nh. One hellacious tow ride home and a day at the mechanics later, the tb broke and #2 and #3 cylinders are toast. As of now the mechanic has quoted me ~$2000 to rebuild the top end. Looking into several different scenarios now to see what my best option will be.

that sucks man! :( good luck with everything!

i was just about to reply saying that the few people i knew personally liked their bc's after getting them adjusted and such but looks like pablo beat me to it haha

yea I would prefer to stay east of rt8 if possible. Won't have any roommates though. can spend up to 1000 a month with everything. I'm looking at a few in stow later this week. Stow is kinda perfect its only 10 minutes from school and the houses tend to be smaller and older so more in my price range but getting people to respond to you out of craiglist and the newspaper is a pain. It's like people don't want to work with you to rent their place out. I asked a guy for some pictures of a place out of the paper and he said he doesn't have anything along those lines. I just dont want to drive all the way out there to see some s*** hole that I would never even have a desire to look at. I feel like I have a healthy budget I think for what I want

Thanks Levi...it's been a crazy few days and the next couple don't look so good either. Oh yeah, hope all is going well regarding the house! :)

Pablo, I understand what you mean but he can be a stickler for using only parts that he buys. I'm sure that if it came down to it he'd use what I'd bring in but there would be no warranty of any kind....that's the plus to having him buy them. Will def. keep it in mind and let you know.

Yeah, for that amount you can find a pretty darn nice house. You can always text me the addy and I can swing by on my way home from work and check it out and send you pics.

And that's very good news to hear about the BC's guys. It seems like every forum has it's love/hate. MSF hates BC's but M247 loves them. haha. Of course, I would like KW's like ballin Jake but they are overkill for my DD. Looking forward to getting everything in and installed.

I ordered a replacement motor from Mazdaspeed yesterday, that was a pretty big single purchase. Biggest I've ever done for sure. But it will help a ton with my anxiety knowing I've got a spare motor on the engine stand at home if/when this one decides to ZZB.

Thanks, Stow is a decent drive for you. I'm going to look at two but I emailed one that I really want more info on the same day he listed it but no response so far. I might just have to drive by and see if there is a for rent sign with a number. But cheaper the better more money for parts and more toys! I'm just a freak about stuff being clean and newish or well taken care of so thats why I set aside a good amount to pay for what I want
