If you have an EGR problem, removing the EGR and cleaning it is really going to be the best solution. I too am a little seafoamed out...it's uber expensive and I'm not sure I see an appreciable difference after foaming. Plus, I'm getting up in miles and don't want to expose my seals to lots and lots of cleaning.
I did the Seafoam on mine right when I got it. It did improve the idle slightly, but I don't think it even cleans up the EGR valve and the port to be honest, it's not that great of a product.
$8+ a can...kindof a lot IMO.
$8, even every 5,000 miles, is not a lot of money.
The 1920s called - they want their pricing scheme back (jk, I know that was lame). (hand)
seafoam recommends using its product every 30k-50k miles.
