burnt light? you don't need to remove the bumper to remove a headlight bulb? How did you break the clip? hmmm lol sorry, but i think better to be safe than sorry and just remove everything.
What bulbs are you using? I used cheap bulbs one time and fried my wire harness. From then on, I paid the price and used PIAA

I replaced both with silverstars and they've been just fine. I gotta say though, having to remove the bumper is one of the dumbest things i've ever run across. The retaining clip on the inside to keep the bulb pressed in is broken on the drives side headlight. I don't know if I'll ever bother to fix it, seeing as its a huge pain.

yea once you break those light clips they are a pain in the ass to get in and out
i kinda did some stuff with the clip and hopefully i never have to remove that bulb again, i have hid's so i doubt i will

For the record, I just replaced the OE ones at 63,000 miles and 5.5 years of use.
They worked fine, I just wanted something brighter.
after much reading, it seems 90% of the complaints are from Silverstars or other ultra-bright lights.
It's just physics.
After changing my passenger side bulb..with a broken clip...again (3 months this time. I swear to god), I got fed up and just ordered myself an apexcone HID kit.
Last time i checked, the HID kits were hundreds of bucks. Now I got mine for $99! At the rate i've been burning thorugh bulbs, i'll break even in 1.5-2 years. Except I won't have to deal with the hassle of changing the damn things, so once I get them installed, I've broken even as far as I'm concerned.
Now, If only I can figure out how to deal with my horribly bad yellow paint...

I bought my 2003.5 with 8 miles on it and have 89K on it now, I swear I have put 15 new lights in it. I don't know who thought it was a good idea to put the washer bottle that close to the plug, serious PIA....

QFT....I have gone thru two sets of Silverstars and one set of Osram Silverstars....after that I decided to purchase an HID kit.
To the OP, yes you have to remove the bumper to remove the lights. It really isn't hard...I had mine off yesterday in 15 minutes and broke both effin clips.
i've owned silverstar (which blew balls), those burnt out in 3-4 months, i replaced them, they burnt out again in 3-4 months, and then i switched to street glow. When i got the wrong wattage; 70w instead of 50w. Safe to say people didn't like me behind them in my car....but even then those lasted just as long. now i have street glow 50w H7's, and they do the job, but the HID would probably be less of a pain in the ass, since the passenger side bulb is a friggin pain in the ass to change due to the windshield washer reservoir. I got big hands
