2017~2025 New CX-5

:
2025 CX-5 Select AWD
I recently woke up one morning feeling that old familiar urge to trade a car. I owned a 2015 Honda Fit and a 2018 Honda Civic----both CVT cars. If I were to get a new car, it was not going to be an electric car, a hybrid car, or have a CVT transmission. Considering those parameters, it didn't take long to discover Mazda!

This week I traded in the Honda Fit for a new 2025 Mazda CX-5 Select... in beautiful Platinum Quartz Metallic. I had to drive a long distance to find one that came with no options or extras. Once home, I ordered some RokBlokz mud flaps, a complete set of https://www.amazon.com (commissions earned) floor mats, and a few oil filters and crush washers.

It's taking a while to get used to all the knob and button functions, but I'm impressed by the way everything works. The CX-5 handles well, feels wonderful, has tasteful styling, and has this great forum with lots of information!

Welcome aboard, Morgan.

Haven't driven any of the CX-5's of the past couple of years. My 2016.5 CX-5 GT is going strong. Good cars. And I'm sure the newest ones feel typically tight-handling and zippy.

Enjoy. :giggle:(y)

Actually they don't feel as nimble as the previous gen. I enjoy driving my 16 more than my 19. It just feels like it hugs the road better. May be the 17" tires compared to the 19" or that it's a little lighter. Each has it's plusses and minuses.

I very purposely chose the Select trim because it specified 17" wheels with higher profile tires. Our local roads have lots of potholes. I might have gone for a fancier trim level if those didn't include ever-lower low profile tires.

I agree about the 17" wheels. They are probably a bit more robust as well as providing more cushion, and I find the handling is decent enough for me with the 65 profile tires.

How are the floor mats? do they come in any color other than black?

The https://www.amazon.com (commissions earned) are being delivered here February 17th. The several Amazon Vine reviews that gave thorough descriptions and positive feedback convinced me to buy that brand of floor mat. Black only.

So many of the YouTube reviews of the CX-5 refer to it as sensible and even an old man's car.
Having begun my new car purchase experiences with a 1966 MG Midget, I am in no position to argue with either description. :)
