F these headlights...seriuosly

For the record, I just replaced the OE ones at 63,000 miles and 5.5 years of use.
They worked fine, I just wanted something brighter.

after much reading, it seems 90% of the complaints are from Silverstars or other ultra-bright lights.
It's just physics.

Same here. The OEM ones are great, I had one burnt bulb in 6 years. Most of the problems are from the aftermarket ones....

Something you could do is hack down the washer resevior. I've seen pics of guys that cut it flush and reattached the cap, so it is no longer a problem

And, our car is not the only one that requires removal of bumper to get to the headlights. MOST new cars are the same way.

And, if I can recomned as already done, HID's are the way to go

Yeah, costs a little more, but is nothing compared to the cost of keeping Silverstar Ultra's in the car

ur right, but ur one of the lucky guys that dont have this problem.
most p5's have this problem. including mine, and ive only used regular bulbs. didnt got aftermarket or anything. and i went thru many sets in time span of half a year. but hid's solved my problems.

Guess I'm another rarity - Bought 2 prs of silverstars since buying the car in Jan 04. One pr is in the car now & one of the original pr is a spare. 1 dead in 4 yrs. Nothing to complain about here. But HID thinmount ballast kits for under a hundred shipped is getting very tempting.

what's all this about removing the bumper?

i've probably changed 5 bulbs without removing bumper before switching to my HIDs, which I also installed without removing the bumper..

It seems that removing the bumper is alot more work than just playing around behind the windshield wiper bottle.

They're talkin about removing bumper to swap out the whole headlight housing to not have broken/lost bulb clips

I just replaced my one of my silverstars after a year or so. Passenger side still had life in it but i couldn't get reg silverstars had to go ultras so had to replace both. I was told it's DRL's that kill the brighter bulbs. Also not sure if it's the same everywhere but i buy my bulbs from canadian tire and they come with a year warranty so a bulb burns out before a year is up I get a free replacement.
