warning (of sort)

Replaced the WBO2 and retuned with stock cam gears. Only problem is a stumble when accelerating lightly through about 2,500rpm when cold. This never occured with the SR gears set half way between FI and NA. My car is weird though and goes closed loop as soon as the WBO2 warms up and provides a signal, even though the engine is still cold. It doesn't really like a lean mixture when still cold. Once everything is warmed up, it works fine.

You're running the MT aren't you? On my Haltech I set a cutoff so that below xxx degrees coolant temp, it won't go into closed loop, and my cold start maps, etc look after it until that temp when closed loop kicks in.

Nope, emanage Ultimate. Works ok on my Australian OBDI car. At long last I've managed to get it to remember the new rev limit consistently. Had it nearly 2 years and still learning how to use the thing. Much, much better now.

I am using an AEM piggyback with twiggy cams and kasman gears.
Car is running, tuning just beginning.

i'm annoyed. there's some problem with everything.. i have the kaz gears and twiggy cams.. so many problems to overcome.

Twiggy cams are in 2 cars i've personally worked on and zero problems.... the only issue that i know of that was confirmed, and subsequently rectified was the first journal. These cams were manufactured by a very reputable cam builder, who was recommended to twiggy by such manufacturers as crow cams and crower - who said that for a short run of billet cams, this company was the "best in the business".. The issue with the journal was unfortunate and annoying (and costly to twiggy in the order of god knows how much, the cam manufacturer even more so, and more than a handful of those who bought the things), but the overall build quality, reliability and performance of the part has never been, nore should it ever be, called into question. Given it wasn't my group buy, I'm not at liberty to disclose the manufacturer, but needless to say, just about every race car thats ever come out of this country runs cams built by these guys, from circuit, to rally, to drag....

Kaz gears are a bit of a poo though (last car i worked on was where twiggy and I discovered the "problem")...also noticed some rubbage on the inside of the gear due to poor clearences...

I concur. But don't underestimate the amount of frustration problems like these and others can create.

so i should wait for a solution before installing the kaz gears on my fi protege?

You can can just install your intake cam gear and adjust only that one.You will benefit most adjusting the intake cam on a FI setup.

Let's say you have the Kasmankk set already, could you just use them zeroed out as lightened camgears (if they are any lighter), without issues or will pickups still be doodoo?

we found even @ 0-0, the pickups were causing a cam ref error....resulting in a misfire and power loss around 3000rpm...

Guess I'll just make some 3D mechanical useless part collage abstract art sculpture thing out of them, like eyes on some freaky robot. :P

There's a simpler solution. Find someone else who wants cam gears, and get together and buy the SR Motorsports ones... use the SRs for the exhaust and the Kasmans for the intake... :D

My mechanic hooked up an oscilloscope (sp?) to the CPS and saw occasional signal loss. I think we are going to attempt some different screws in the cam gear pick up.
If I remember, this is supposed to be a hall sensor, right?

This IS an excellent point and a good idea.

I am having Codes that MAY be related to the signal drop offs (misfires). (notcool)
I don't think it has anything to do with my cams tho.

Really? Hoodat dooindat?

I have cam-gears that I can't use because of the damn CPS, too. But you only need one of them to have the correct studs for the CPS... the exhaust one.

So buy this:

And sell a mixed set, KasmanK + one of these, to someone else who wants cam-gears. It'll cost you extra to get the SRs, but at least you won't have to pay for both.

I'm planning to do this... still looking for someone who will want to go halfsies on a set.

Besides... all I really need is the exhaust one, so we can tweak overlap to cure some low-rpm driveability issues.
