Official MS3 1/4 Time List:

Is there a thread dedicated to shifting technique, launch technique etc. This is my first boosted car and it would be nice to hear from people with more experience. How much time could you drop in the 1/4 by keeping your foot on the gas and not lifting to shift? What is the optimal psi to run your tires at and does it depend on elevation? I'm sure I will have more soon.

Just read that the new EVO and STI run the 1/4 in 14.0 @100
Automobile magazine (newest issue)

So we just add intake and that's were we are in the 1/4. Not bad for a car costing 10k less :)

Oh and the Pontiac G8 GT runs the 1/4 in 14.3 @103

Wow, these 60' times are pretty bad on most cars, must be harder to launch than I thought it was. I got to hit the 1/8th mile here soon.

Prctice, practice, practice. I hit 2.1 and 2.0 60's pretty consistently. And that is on the stock tires with 8000 miles on them at 25 psi. You do NOT want to launch this car over 3000 rpm, and my better 60's are quite abit less, maybe 2000 rpm. I started with 2.4ish 60's when I first started running this baby.

Yeah wish I would have pulled a 2.0-2.1 60ft on my 14.3 run...

Don't bother powershifting 2nd since it produces too much wheel spin (on street tires). But with the other gears it makes a good bit of difference by keeping boost up. Try it, you'll be surprised how much quicker the car feels

Mazda has been quoted telling the magazine test drivers to powershift 3rd-5th for timed acceleration runs

very good run looks like the tires make a difference!

I think the stock bridgestone potenzas are stickier, the kumho are ok, last longer, but not as sticky as the potenzas or so i read. Maybe I was just able to get a good 60' and the power added from tbe and cai helped. But yeah I'm stoked about my time. It's good to have a 13 sec car. Thanks!

I can get a pic of the timeslip up soon if needed. It's not a huge improvement from my previous best though.
