Is there any useful modding that can be done, keeping the car within warrantee?

And why do people seem to like noisey pop off valves? I like the stock, quiet sound.

If you want the piece of mind that a warranty gives, I would suggest NO mods at all. If your dealer wants to be a jerk, they could void your warranty over an intake.

You are very unlikely to void the warranty with Mazdaspeed parts. Go for the CAI. The exhaust adds a bit more sound but probably does nothing for HP.

Cue recorded message about warranties:

They cannot "void" your warranty. Nothing voids a warranty. They may elect to not honor your warranty on something related to an aftermarket part.

For example, you install an AEM intake and 6 months later your MAF goes tits up. The dealer may give you the finger for the MAF replacement.

You installed an AEM intake and your CV joint fails. You're good to go.

That would genarally be the rule of thumb. But when i worked at the chevy dealership we would end up replacing parts under warranty just to keep the CSI (customer satisfaction) up. it all depends on your dealer and the issue.

If it is a larger, more reputable dealership, CSI is a MAJOR factor. That is one thing you could have in your corner, should a problem arise.

it depends on the dealer a lot. i had a dealer refuse to replace a leaking bpv because i had an intercool sprayer on my srt-4 and had zipped tied all my vac lines (screwy). the worst part was that the only part of the car i had modded at that point was run a "Y" off the windshield sprayer water line to feed the sprayer. So i went to the dealer i bought the car from which was much bigger and they didnt even look twice at my car and ordered me the part.

some dealers are good others are dicks. but a dealer cannot void your warranty. im pretty sure only the corp can do that. and it would take something directly related and pretty serious for that to happen.

Personal prefrence. I happen to like it loud. You like it quiet. However, if you don't like loud, don't do any power mods. The stock BPV is fairly loud/noisey from just an intake.

Oh, and even if you get the "Mazdaspeed" specific parts, if they mess up your car, they still wont honor warenty.
