HiBoost

Well... I am still being ignored by Juan so if you want to send someone your hard earned cash just to be ingored, go for it.

Juan never got back to me with looking over my fuel maps and I ended up making my own heatshield. I'm not too concerned with my tune since I'm waiting on a Forged motor with Stage 1 head from Speedcircuit. Right now I just get a little bucking on decel. Not a big deal just adjusted my driving habits.

cool! great info shane! i think theres a lot of people out there reading this and having hope knowing there are other options out there. I think there maybe one person out there that is close to the vendor and will get special treatment because of it, but when you look back, the bottom line is the problem did not start from day one, it just has been getting progressively WORSE since then!!!!!

by the way, did you ever get your problems resolved with your hiboost kit??

you got any pics of your heat shield? are these the only problems you've had? if not what were they and how were they corrected? i am having a problem with my engine running right after warm up. i am suspecting computer now, but if anyone has any ideas, i would greatly appreciate it. i bought a coolant temp sensor from a dodge caravan because its the same the haltech kit comes with, but i'm not sure if the specs are the same. i was almost positive this was it, but when it got warm, the same s***! it spits and sputters. wtf???? i am so sick of not being able to enjoy this car!! sum1 please help!!!

I mostly just had lumpy idle and dying off sitting in traffic. Most of this was due to a few vac/boost leaks and the threaded egr fitting in the side of the turbo manifold leaking. I switched the way the egr boost sensor was directed in the instructions. It seemed to cause a straight vac leak making the idle fluctuate from 750-1300rpms constant and in traffic would make my temp gauge go up.

I looked around on the forums and saw that other custom set-ups just ran a check-valve to the sensor to keep it from seeing boost. Idle maintained better and I haven't messed with it since. My only problem now is that I need a capacitor added to my system to run my stereo at a decent volume while sitting at idle. I don't even bother turning it on much to just have to catch my car from stalling unless I'm on a trip somewhere or going out. At wot she runs like a ***** ape and never hit fuel cut even at 13psi.

I'm probably going to make another heatshield that will extend to the third screw on the manifold. I just cut this up out of something I already had lying around.

One more thing, It's so sad that all of the pioneers that created turbo kits for the Protege have dryed up. Spoolin, Flyin Protege, Hiboost, and I think MAM will probably be on there way out soon as well

wow this guy is ****** retarded...

sweet shield. looks proper in there. i tried to get all elaborate with mine. lookin at yours makes me want to redo it. i wrapped my turbo with thermo tech and lined the inside of the shield with it too. then fiberglass resined it and ceramic coated the out side.

Pics dude!

doesnt look the best, but it really keeps the under hood temps down. i originally made it to protect the nology coil relocation, but went back to stock location for coils (nology wires dont last very long).

by the way, what all is done to yours now? how much is speed raping you for the stage 1? you gonna dyno some day?

Looks good man! I wouldn't change it. I kinda went crazy with the bling and red thing but I can't stop now. Air diversion plate is on its way to be polished a bit too.

Performance wise I have
Haltech F10
2.5" catless turbo back
J&S knock sensor with timing retard
PLX Wideband
Welded LSD
Exedy Stage 1
All DIY motor mounts
13psi

In process
Speedcircuit Block 8.5:1 Arias piston/Pauter rod combo $3599+misc.
Stage 1 head $1299

Next up after break in
Walbro fuel pump
550 Injectors
Custom FMIC & Piping
GTX 3-5 gears (maybe cryo'ed)
QTP (or other) Electric cut-out

Dyno tune after break-in around 20psi daily!

Guess what??? i still haven't heard a peep from Juan... it's the final straw. I'll be contacting the fraud squad and my bank today to get this sorted. I will not wait any longer.

And for anyone else out there looking to buy anything from HiBoost... I would keep away.

Mike

Sorry to hear but I wouldn't trade my Hiboosted P5 for anything!

There are still options for newcomers with an authorized vendor that will give customer support with Hiboost kits that they stock.

Protegegarage
Speed Circuit
TBK Performance
Crossover Auto

I dont think these vendors stock the kits unless they have to buy 4 or 5 at a time. I wonder if Ken (P.G) would come out with a in house kit? He has all the parts right there.

Just an update:

The last I heard from HiBoost was on 12/12/2007 stating that they haven't shipped my kit because I told them I no longer wanted it and they didn't want to risk the cost of shipping and that they found someone else to buy it and are waiting for funds to clear on the Friday (14/12/2007) and once they had that they would refund..... Guess what??? I have heard NOTHING since then and haven't seen a penny.

Not surprised at all, but extremely pissed off! I've given HiBoost to the end of this week, then I'm getting someone else sort to all this out because I've had enough.

Mike

I don't blame you a bit..I would have NEVER waited this long..PERIOD.

Good luck you man.

There must be more to this! I have been in communication with Juan several times the last couple weeks regarding PAR gears. I've been left waiting myself but only for answers not merchandise. My kit was right off the shelf to me in about a week almost 5 years ago. I got lucky!

Send me a pm with some details and maybe I can help out! I dont want to see anyone get screwed. I also dont want Juan to get more of a bad name for leaving people hanging. He knows his s*** and his products are good quality.
