anything i need to do to install such as oil line adaptors? my t25 just blew so im upgrading and im having my mechanic do it since the car is stuck 4 miles away from him. and itd be cheaper to tow it to him and have him do it then for me to have it towed back to my house so i can do it. also looking into getting either a new set of struts+springs vs coilovers. are coilovers something i can install myself? i know i cant install springs because i dont have a spring compressor, but id assume thats not a problem with coilovers? any input would be great on the installation of both a gt28rs as well as struts+springs vs coilovers. thanks!

It's not exactly a direct fit.. you cant use the same intake cuz the 28RS has a larger diameter inlet, the wastegate actuator rod needs to be modified, and if I recall correctly you can't reuse the stock oil feed line cuz it's too small. There's a how-to somewhere, search around the forum and you'll likely find the exact answer.

almost a direct fit, yeah i forgot to mention i have a 2.5 aem cold air intake.. i just reused that intake but with a bigger coupler. Also that's what I meant the rod, thank you krayziefox for clearing that up.. one more thing krayziefox would I really see a difference with a 3 inch intake or really it don't matter over the 2.5?

The gt28rs doesn't come with its own actuator rod? And do you know the size adaptor? I tried searching but couldn't find anything.

Holy s***, this info changes every time I look it up. Let us all know what the outcome is. I applaud the upgrade, and when and if my T25 ever bites the dust the potato will be in my future, so any and all info would be appreciated.

ok so i recieved news from HKPRO5 that the lines are all the same. now i read i may have to clock it, not bad, however everyone says to put the stock wastegate on, does it not come with a wastegate actuator, but is still internally wastegated? also im assuming since the threads are same size for oil feed, i dont need a reducer correct?

All of the GT25 up to GT30 ball bearing turbos have the same oil inlet size. You shouldn't need a reducer. Just plug and play.

The wastegate actuator and bracket are totally different than stock. Your stock one should be set for about 6 psi. The one that comes with the GT28 is 11 I believe.

The turbine housing (exhaust side) is still wastegated internally, and your stock actuator will work. You may or may not need to modify the bolt holes on the stock bracket. I can't remember if you need to. I did but I am running the GT2560R.

yeah, well im going to leave the actuator as is, just ordered it now. so ill be boosting 11 psi out of box, not bad. once i tune that its 16 psi, and once thats tuned.... MOAR BOOST!!

no tweaks for me unless the radiator fan housing has to be trimmed a bit, which i have heard of. other then that im good to go =] minimal boosting on my way home though until i can get the knock light installed. then its going to be 11psi of gt28 goodness!

how big you guys think i should go for injectors? i was originally thinking sti pinks, @ 556cc but if im going over 20 psi that seems to be a little shy of my goals, what do you guys think?

Yeah oil and coolant lines are the same. You will need to clock the turbo tho. Mine came pre clocked but I have helped someone do it and it wasnt bad at all. You will need all new gaskets (exhaust mani, mani to turbo and turbo to exhaust). I'd recommend all new hardware. Studs and nuts on the exhaust side and, nuts for the exhaust mani studs, and new nuts for the s pipe. New intake coupler. You can build a 3in intake off of ebay for really cheap. I just got all ss braided coolant and oil lines from atp turbo, thats gonna look sweet.

On the wastegate, I reused the stock wastegate and bracket. Since it has an adjustable end, it worked out really well.

Jdmsam just got in 1000cc injectors for proteges. You should hit him up since he's gone through a few different set ups.
