xDJ DUBx's 03.5 Pure White LX-T

Parts wise, on my setup, i got the projectors, shrouds, headlights, bulbs, and ballasts for $350 from another member who attempted the retro and did not finish

then i paid labor for chicoloco in Puerto Rico to build them

Both cars have 07 Acura TL headlights, ZKW-R lenses, 85122+ bulbs (whichever ballasts i have) Mercedes E55 shrouds, custom fiberglass buckets

For the wife's setup, cost was as follows

TL projectors -$220
ZKW-R lenses - $45
Bulbs$-40
Ballasts$-already had em
Mercedes E55 shrouds- $40
Headights - $140
Misc wiring adapters- $30

Total-$510 plus labor

i don't think I could justify that. i'd rather have a full exhaust or a new set of wheels and tires. lol

at that point, i had a full exhaust and both cars had wheels/tires

She's done HP mod wise

Only other mod i want now is a Racing Beat catback

and i can justify it cause it's what i want. And, after seeing my set finished and installed, I had Callie begging for a set too, so, can't really say no....

a sweet mod for sure... I just can't justify it. lol. I've already got HIDs (obviously nothing close to that quality).. and the payoff just isn't there for me. love the look and I'm sure the visibility is awesome.

and here's where "To each his own" comes into play

I loved my HID's honestly, but, i knew it had more potential.

cutoff went from this

Yes you can "NO"

lol.

uhm, not when i wanted a set for her car myself too. lol

can't see the 2nd pic, but ik what you mean. and definitely to each their own. I can just get a lot better return on my money with other mods still. lol

offer of my sills for your HIDS stands though.

custom work is rarely cheap, unless you do it yourself

You can use Mercedes E55 projectors and cut the cost of the projectors in half if not more ($70 for a set sometimes on ebay) and you don't need to use the replica lenses

can also use a different shrouds, the E55 is one of the more rare shrouds and harder to come by

deff a big difference Pro5x2........i rather have a nice cutoff and put the hids to good use instead of having light scattered all over the place which is my problem right now, as im running 8000ks in the stock halogen housing, i mean the lights are bright as hell i just loose alot of the light due to the stock headlights, i also invested in some projector fog lights and threw in another 8000k kit on those......I believe Pro5x2 has the same ones on his car, how are those working for you ??

I cant seem to get them aligned properly, i mean there good projectors but right now i have an uneven cutoff and it pisses me off (pissed) that i cant get them were i want them. a any tips ideas ?????

no, no tips on the flipping foglight projectors, and it pisses me off too!

I've got 3000K yellow HID's though

I mounted em to the subframe and it isn't even, so they kinda "V" into the center. It's A LOT worse on Callie's.

Still trying to figure how to fix it. How'd you mount yours? I Just used automotive trim tape and they hold great.

I might double up on the outsides to kinda aim them more horizontal.

i have mine mounted on the bumper itself with 2 inch bolts and nuts on the end but the thing is so flimsy that it just doesn't do it for me i was also having problems with shaking every time i would be at a stop light you could see the light vibrating, so that pissed me off even more as well as the uneveness added to the problem, im also still trying to figure out what the hell to do,(dunno) as of now i have a x style cutoff so im not even getting any useful light from them...........i might try the double sided tape as well

I was thinking maybe change the mounting bracket and instead of mounting them from the top, mount them to the bottom of the bumper, where the factory fog light housing is ?????? wat do you think ??

Too much metal contact I guess, they couldn't run on the same system and would blow out even on separate systems after a couple of weeks.

here's how mine are mounted

and here you can see the V pattern (i know it doesn't look like it in the photo, but, it raises up on either sdie which really annoys me)

and here it is, you can see it shooting up above the low beam cutoff- and yes, the headlights were aimed too low in these pics, they have since been adjusted

interesting. im thinkig of mounting fogs behind the front grill like that, but not cutting out like that. looks good

thats a really good idea Pro5x2, maybe it will get rid of my x style cutoff lol and plus they wont stick out as much as they do now from being on the bumper, so how did you do it just cleaned of the metal and placed some double sided tape on them ???? I love the whole "conceal" type set up looks good behind the stock fog light covers, at least you get a wider beam then i do

they won't fit behind the grille with the HID's sticking out the back of em

As it was, they BARELY made it in like that without sticking through the grille too much

but, i like how they are not beind the grille. I get even light instead of it coming through the honeycomb grille

oh, wait, yours are currently behind the grille? That's exactly why you're getting "X" patterns!
