Wtf F1

I'm sure this will change again later today as it has a couple times since yesterday but, as of now, I'm glad that the teams had the balls to pull the Michelin guys off the track. Yes they could've just slowed down but in the intense competition, someone would've pushed the envelope and could've gotten seriously hurt. Those cars push the brink of expectation and performance on every part of the car and the tires are one thing that even regular cars can't really **** around with much less machines like these.

I can understand Ferraris position that with jackasses like Montoya on the track running at lower speeds, it could've presented a danger to their drivers but for the good of the sport they should've conceded to letting the others on the track for no points and the chicane. They are obviously in a different class than the other two teams that would've been racing for points so that really shouldn't've been a concern.

Oh well, sucks for the US and the sport in general as they may not come here again... or at least until after the 2007 season when it all falls apart anyways.

I can't b**** enough about this, Ferrari has no fault here.
They came out this season like men with all the good sportsmanship you could ask. We have seen tire related issues relegate the sports most able driver of our day to hardly placing on the podium due to the sanctioning bodies new spin on how to enhance competition.
While Bridgestone held Ferrari by the sack all season I feel that it was sad to see Michelin fall so far short of their duty to the the other teams.
Why should Ferrari have accepted the chicane? If the issue was safety there is no guarantee that this would have slowed all the cars to perform within the limits of this safety. What then too, would it have looked like if Bridgestones failed at this occasion for the simple reason as we observed this season that they didn't come up to ideal operating conditions, and Ferrari got walked all over (points or no points) and the rest of these teams got to claim podium after getting their way around the rules.
Not fair. Fire Michelin, refund peoples tickets and fine Michelin for neglecting their duties in reasearching AT LEAST the right backup tire their allowed to provide for the teams (and they are for every race) and get on with business.

As to the debate about if Ferrari should have let the teams run with a chicane, they neither accepted nor declined the proposition. The ultimate decision came from Max Mosley, FIA President, who said that if that were to take place, then the race would lose it's FIA sanctioning, resulting in a non-point scoring race. You figure it out from there. This is where F1 is at now: http://www.formula1.com/race/news/3212/740.html

you don't just change the rules (which INCLUDES making changes to the course) so people that came unprepared can play, especially when so much money is at the stake.

sucks for the fans that pay $$$$ to come see the race, but rules are rules, and they cannot and should not be changed just so they can put on a show.

i bet if it was the other way around, and bridgestone had the bad tires, no one would complain, and everyone would just sneer at bridgestone for supplying inferior tires to their teams.

but then again that's not how to run a racing series when it barely has a foothold in what you're hoping to be your biggest market. it was the only chance that Formula 1 had in the US this year to show why its the world's dominant racing series and they blew it. they only showcased their petty, bickering attitudes that are tearing the sport apart and will eventually split the series...

or they couldve just slowed down before the turn. im not a pro racer, but if i were, i wouldve raced just because i enjoy it and it wouldve been fun. and it wouldve made the fans happy. sounds like F1 teams are turning into NBA players. gee, imagine that, getting paid to drive fast cars for a living.

fun?!?!?!? knowingly race on defective tires and putting yourself in even higher risk than the sport already is, is fun???!?!?!??

racecar drivers risk A WHOLE LOT MORE everytime they take it to the track than any basketball player ever can stepping on the court.

I posted the update so that people who has tickets can get refund and tickets to next year's event for free.

yes, fun. if i made millions a year doing something i loved to do, i wouldve tried harder to do my job. if it werent for the $100.00 + tix, that non rich people pay, then these drivers would be street racing for $50 a run. thats why F1 will now be done here. so get your chewing tobacco out and lets start watching nascar.

This is another race just like any other race. This is a sporting events. People are out to get points. Blame Michellin for their faults. It's not the teams faults. They tried to protect the driver, but like others said before, rules are rules. I grew up watching Formula One and Michael Schuhmacher when he drove for the bennetton team. It's still exciting as ever. And for all the people that thinks this is boring, consider how small of a gap now is to pass a car when the whole field has gotten faster and differences in cars much smaller (especially with these new rules changes).

remember these cars can go up from 0 to 120kmph and back while we're still trying to get to 100kmph.

it wasn't even the driver's decisions to make. the teams made the decision. they played david coulthard talking to the team over the radio saying that he DID want to drive... the team made him pull in. and i'm guessing that was the case with many other drivers.
