Worth it to Mod Autos??

i find 5spd more fun to drive.. i was stuck in a predicament when i bought my car, and i'm stuck with atx.. so i'm making the best of it... i like rubbing s*** in people's faces, so i'm modding my ATx to take 250whp..
the only real pros i've found about the ATx is that you can keep better control of the car with circuit racing and twisties and that in a 1/4mile, you can lay thy smackdown on MTx cars.. the ATx will never make a sloppy shift

but i must admit, i'm doing all the perf. mods to my car outta spite against the people that say "ATx can't take boost, it can't beat an MTx".
My winter car will be 5spd, i'll get my control-freak fun then.

I really want to race a stock MSP again, the last one I raced beat me by like 2-3 cars by the top of 3rd....

Unless you plan to race every car at a stop light, whats the point in getting uber horsepower. I think adding a few bolt on mods makes the car fun to drive. I still drive my '94 Toyota Corolla a few times (I'm sure that car is a bit faster then my Pro5 still in the 0-60sec time, well it feels that way), but I'll drive my Pro5 everyday because its fun to take corners without fear of the tires squeeling. Its gratifying when my passengers applaud the fact that the car stays stable during hard cornering, compared to my corolla, that will bounce and squeel at slower cornering speeds.

Eventually this WOMP thing, will pwn us ATx guys, because its cheaper and a bit better on the transmission on us.

yeah I was reading a thread a while ago where pirhana whooped on a gsr integra that had worked done to it and the guy was (pissed) because pirhana showed him it was an auto lol.

I don't see the novelty in having a car that is already the underdog to have even more going against it, the auto tranny. Not talking s***, just kind of an odd way to look at things.

Well if you think about it we are all underdogs except for the MSP so why not change that around.

hahaha. i'm referring only to the ones that rev at me... the p5s and done-up sedans get revved at by everybody.. but i've only had a scooter and a few old-ass POS rusted out cavs try to race me... only one that was close was the scooter.

I originally thought the same way. But then I thought about last summer. There were a few times that I had the a/c on. A few. Most of the time, I was rollin' with the windows down. So this is definitely looking to be something worthwhile. Plus the fact that that'll help with power since there's less weight and less load on the engine...

when you stop looking at 1/4 mile times having an auto isnt so bad, theres a lot of fun in handling and learning cornering/ braking technique in something like an autox or road course.

then again, if you only care about 1/4 mile then dont even bother.

i have an auto and i'm not even bothering with the engine. I EVEN HAVE STOCK INTAKE!

You can "engine brake" with the tip/tronic. Kinda. Just not a very good idea to do it often.

ive been modding my auto p5 and i find that its completely worth it...for now, im staying n/a but im still getting a huge rush from it...for example, the other day at a stop light that heads to the freeway on-ramp, this stock escort pulled up next to me to overtake me to get to the ramp...long story short, he had wheelhop and crappy ass acceleration...thats what i think makes it completely worth all the modding, even though its just an auto...
