Just wondering if anyone has any ideas for a winter tire size... i was thinking of going to a 15" rim... not sure on a size though. Any suggestions?

I went with 195/55-15's.. I forget the brand though.. uhhh.. I think they were Yokahama Guardex's. Nice tires on normal 15" Protege steel rims.

I have a set of Semperit 195R/55-15s on 15" Mazda 626 steel rims. Worked well and got decent performance on dry pavement, too.

Forget the 15" rims, you don't have enough sidwall left to let the tire work properly in the snow/on the ice. You need 14" rims, only available at the dealer (I paid $180 for a set of 4 in February).

If you are mostly on the highway, where you have clean but icy conditions, I STRONGLY suggest a tire like Yokohama's 720 Guardex or Michelin's Alpin in 185-65-14 (I've had the 720 since it came out and, honestly, it performs fantasticaly on the highway but lacks grip in deep snow).

If you drive on snowy roads, get Nokia's in a size which offers a very narrow tread so your tires actualy dig in the white stuff (the wider, the more "snowshoe" effect you get...). You'll get grip on the snow but less rubber on the ice so it's a bit slippery on the "blue ice".

Hope this helped.:D
