Winter MPG

I'm A new owner of A 2014 Mazda 3 2.5.
Many of us new owners of the Mazda 3's in the cold climate area are experiencing Significant lower than EPA gas Mileage.

My question is for those who have owned the Mazda 6's from the summer and now are in the cold parts of the country for the winter.

Have you noticed a rather significant decrease in gas mileage?

Hi Gas Saver. I bought a 2014 Mazda 6 around April 1 and was enjoying 30-31 combined in about 60/40 city to highway, but here in the middle of a terribly cold winter in Minnesota, that average has dropped considerably, my average is now about 23-25 (same ratio of city to highway). Extended warm-up times are somewhat to blame thanks to the sub-zero temps, as is the use of what is deemed "winter gas blends" used by the local service stations. I have to admit I was surprised at how far the average has fallen here in the winter months. A lot of light to medium snowfalls have also created a lot of slow moving rush hour traffic jams in the Mpls metro area over the course of the winter so far, which doesn't help with the gas mileage either (obviously). Definitely a big difference. I have been logging mine since new on fuelly.com and was averaging 35.0 until November/December in which I am getting closer to 30 mpg average. The cold temps and idling kill mileage as everybody knows. I have logged 23k on fuelly if interested...sbronemann is username

Yes, I was averaging 35-36 in Summer, down to 32-34 for winter.

im down to 22-24 depending on idle time, I do 90% city driving too

18-20mpg, however I kept my car on for at least 10-20 mins on average to warm it up. And in summers it gave me close to 23, somewhat heavy footed. No complains, it gives me a great mielage on highway (33-35mpg).
