what car was that 28hp diff from? just curious what percantage it is, I mean it if it took a car from 150 - 178 thats amazing but if its from 500 to 528 ... well s*** thats still pretty amazing ;) lol

this looks like a pretty cheap mod
based on the article it came from that I found and posted above it was a 340 hp car... and the piston alteration is pretty much all done by hand.

you know what would be even easier than the way they did it is to use a sand blaster with glass bead... we have one at work, maybe I can take one of my stock pistons and mask off the sides, and give it a shot. lightly, then maybe finish it up with scotchbrite like they did.

I think it is funny that in all honest scotch brite and swirl polish are about the same thing ;).

and whats more is I'm looking at my 8:1 CPs right now... they are totally smoothed, no hard edges, except for the outer edges of the valve reliefs... and even they appear to have a .010" chamfer on them

So a little time with scotch brite and you'd be good?? :)

I saw a couple of cp pistons up close. I think alittle work can be done to clean them up. Of course i still haven't ordered mine..

I guess since I posted this in F/I, I was expecting more of a engine/drivetrain response, because thats all I'm about. He posted about his appearance project, which also cool, but not what I was expecting as responses. sorry.

my bad i didnt realize where it was posted..... as for that 8:5 compression pistons, new rods, block ,water injection, nitrous (50 shot) and a expert engine builder to help plus new manifold and bigger downpipe from the turbo....... guess thats all you wanted.... plus my tranny build and interior but that must be a diffrent winter plan

pertz- Goals alittle high eh? lol. You better keep it running, I want to be the one blowing it up at the track.

p.s dont name a thread winter plans if it only deals with engines...... name it winter engine plans...... dumbasses like me won't just name everything

lol good answer :) hope you got your starting-idling problems fixed up man

anyway back to the original post here

I have similar plans as most of the guys here

MAM shortblock with 8.5:1 CP pistons and Oliver billet long rods, Thumper kit, Spec 3 hybrid clutch, PWR Rad, MAM fuel rail, and to get my emanage working good with all of this or switch it to something else. So far I just have the pistons - rods and clutch so I got a ways to go yet :(

oh and I am going to install a remote car starter on my 91 protege :D I have to park outside and this snow is driving me nuts

Winter plan=keep my car running.
