There is just something about that I personally don't like. And well since I am knew I figure dropping a few words to share my side is only fair. First the intercooler itself. We prefer bar and plate over tube and fin. Why? The Bar and Plate has exceptional charge air cooling performance and a slightly higher pressure drop compared to an equivalently sized tube & fin design which offers more charge air flow at the cost of cooling efficiency. We tend to like the ability to cool more on those hot summer days.
As for the end tank setup we had to make our own once the bumper was off. If you go with a core that has tanks on the sides of each you have 2 options.
1. Short route on each side of the car. (both sides of the radiator has piping comming from the IC) Not a bad idea, but the downfall it you are putting the piping to the turbo right by the manifold and well additional heat on IC piping = bad in my eyes.
2. Take the piping from the pass side back around the IC and through the dirvers side. Downfall = a ton of piping.
So that's why we made this up. 2 solid pipies, 4 total couplers, and a custom end tank design. Why risk boost leaks when you don't have to? Why use more pipe than what's needed?
Why ask why? Try bud dry! (drinks) Sorry, time to get back to work.
