Wife got hit on the freeway in the CX-7 :(

My wife is doing well...we went to the doctor yesterday because after the accident, that night, we found out she's pregnant with our first child!! It was a good way to forget about the accident.

I'll keep keep you guys posted on the cost of the repairs.

Some of us, like myself, are young. This was the first car I had purchased on my own without my parents help. I don't make a lot of money but when I buy stuff I buy it because it is what I want. Point: some of us are emotionally attached to our vehicles because we can't go out every year or two like some rich ass people and just buy another car. Now trying to be a dick, but some of us are different. To me, my car is not "just another car". It is me and my way of life.

Glad to see your wife is ok though. Hopefully the CX-7 looks awesome once it has been repaired. Keep us posted!

I don't know how old you are, but some day you'll realize that it's just a car. All cars eventually end up in a junkyard, some sooner than others.

I'm an old guy, 57. My wife and I have had about 4 cars hit during the past 35 years. I learned that as long as nobody was hurt, things were OK. You can always get another car.

Count your blessings. The car's job is to sacrifice its life to save yours. You should be grateful.

Junior, your argument is silly (and that was the mildest adjective I could think of, when I read your post - believe me, stronger terms come to mind).

All of us, whether young as your self or more mature, spend a large amount of money on our cars. But that absolutely means nothing when it comes to the lives of our loved ones. Put this into perspective. If you're mother, father, sister, brother, or your significant other was in your CX-7 and they were involved in any kind of accident, what is YOUR first inclination - worry about your loved one's safety or worry whether your new shiny car is mangled?

Go with God and if per chance, you encounter a dreadful situation like this, let's hope you make the right decisions. I really, sincerely think you need to reflect on what's really important in life.

Vince.

Thanks for the kind words all, both are doing fine. It looks like we're in for a good storm with the insurance companies though. I called the ins. co. that made initial contact w/ the car and they said w/ 4 parties involved it will take a while to sort out and that my best bet is to just fix the car through my insurance and eventually they'll reimburse my company. I didn't like that answer so I told them that we will not be doing that, that they'll make timely decisions on things and that they will be fixing my car, not my insurance. Turns out someone else already contacted my company (i'm assuming the guy who she was pushed in to) to try and collect from my insurance company. I have an appointment tomorrow with my company but I explained to the adjuster that the police have already determined fault (the two people who each other and my wife) and that I would forward the police report to them as soon as I get it...5 to 10 business days from the date of the accident. Thank goodness I kept my old car when I got a company car so we have that to drive while the insurance companies go to town on each other.
...bring on the higher rates!

Stop letting your wife drive your cars!!!!

but seriously the important thing is she was okay

Bummer on the car and as everyone else mentioned....thank god she is not hurt badly and congrats on becoming parents.....what a blessing! I hope you 7 will be good as new soon!!

Huh? who's at fault?

Oh, sorry for the confusion- the police report says the two people behind my wife who hit each other, then hit her and then caused her car to hit the car in front of her are at fault. According to my insurance company, the only person they will pursue is the person that rear ended her, not the multiple cars involved. So, she is not at any kind of fault.

My insurance company encouraged me to get the car fixed on their dime and that they'd waive my deductible to get our car back on the road. They said they would pursue the other insurance company for the money so I wouldn't have to worry about it. Also, they allowed me to pick the shop so I chose the local Mazda dealer here in town to fix it rather than a regular old body shop. I figure the Mazda dealer will have the know-how on how to fix the car correctly and thoroughly.

Thanks! We're excited too!

At the end of the day it was a relief too, to see that the CX-7 can take such a hit so well should our whole family be inside of it next time.

I personally think that regular mechanic would do a better job but then again I guess it depends on the area I know here in my area the guys at mazda are kiddies that went through some vocational auto shop program then somehow ended up applying at mazda got hired and trained but all they know is oil changes, tsb,etc.. not much of body repair, painting etc..

Look at some of the post that people have made here in the forums sometimes they take the cars in and the people at the dealer don't know what they are talking about Congrats on el bebe. and dude good luck if your car gets healed at mazda trauma hospital LOL

Glad to know your wife's ok....... another thing about being rear-ended and shoved into another car in front of you....... the car's drivetrain and be seriously messed up.

My friend was driving her f-150 on a heavily traversed main causeway...... it was raining...... some joker was going to fast and ended up hydroplaning..... he was going in the opposite direction.... he lost control crossed over the median hit the front of her car and the car traveling too close behind her for conditions (it's raining, why the hell do people tailgate in rain?)

needless to say it bent her driveshaft, I mean you could see the shaft and it looked like the Hulk had taken it and bent it to an 80 degree angle....... make sure you check out the under body or have the dealer check it out...... you don't want to get a car back with drivetrain problems.....

Glad to know your wife came out of this farce safely, and congratulations on the new baby (2thumbs)

Glad to hear your Insurance company is fixing your car asap.

Congradulatons on the baby...

Be ready to meet wife 2.0 with kid....

If you don't know what I mean you soon will... You are in for many changes. Some good, some not so good....

Yes married 25 years and 2 kids. (beer)

I understand what he ment. My wife says I am anal about my vehicles.. You don't want to be the person to scratch or dent any of my vehicles...

While that is true, the most important think is you families lives. When Son totaled my wifes New Beetle, first question was are you okay, he was. Then I had time to get pissed (flame) over the loss of the car.(spank) Yes my wife chewed my ass about her loss, not my son (See comment about wife 2.0 above) for a month until I upgraded her buying a Turbo Baja for her(kissass) .... Now she is happy again and I am out $8,000(wow) which was the difference of what the insurance gave me for the bug and what wifes Baja Turbo cost....

But wifey is happy so the family is now happy... And son is not allowed to drive my CX7 or my bikes...!

Well...got the priliminary estimate today...$7237.25 and he figured there'd be more once teardown begins. The adjuster figures somewhere in the neighborhood of $9000 with all said and done. I was shocked it was so much but tailgate is $860+/- and the rear 1/4 panal is $945+/- alone. Just waiting on the police report and then we'll stick it in the shop.

I chose not to go with the Mazda dealer here instead going with an outstanding shop here in town...one that states excellent workmanship in every review I read.

wow......almost 9k in damage and not labeled "wrecked"

lol, that's funny in FL, that would be "unrepairable"

one of my ex's had a scion tC the front end got busted from hitting another car (rear end) but it definitely didn't look bad and would have been an easy fix (i've worked autobody) but her insurance company said it was "totaled" and just issued her a check for the money and she got a new car........ heh.

Good luck getting everything done and fixed.......

Nevada law is 75% of the value of the car. We'd have to approach like 16-18k for that to happen. I was wondering that too so I looked it up.

That makes sense.... I wonder what FL is, did the site you looked up have all state's information?

I'd like to know what it's supposed to be if they can decide a scion tC with 3k in damage is "totaled"
