Widest wheels possible?

What are the widest wheels you have put on your cars? I am looking to squeeze Rota Slipstream 15's on my car with as much width as possible. Think I'll ever fit 8 up front?

Depends on ride height and tire size. Running a 15" rim gives you more room to play, but anything wider than a 225 series tire will probably not fit in the fender well. You also need to consider that the wider rim/tire setup you go with will also be increasing you rotational/unsprung wieght and actually hurt performance. I'm going to run a 15x7 w/ 225 series tires this season for AutoX as soon as I can afford the new wheels.

Listen to this man... 15x7 with a good drag radial is what would be ideal.

I was looking at going wider than 7 because I have that now.. Oh well, I guess that's life? Once my (TERRIBLE PURCHASE, STUPID) Nitto NeoGens run out I am getting new wheels and tires.

Even if you didn't go any wider than what you have right now, the massive reduction in unsprung weight from going to a 15-inch wheel will pay off in the handling department allowing the suspension to have quicker response and to keep the tires touching the pavement. Acceleration and braking will be easier too.

Remember that when you drop to a 15 inch wheel you are going to be getting tires that have a much taller sidewall than what you are used to. Depending on the tires this is going to give you a lot more traction than a low profile tire of the same width because of deflection in the sidewall. I think you are going to be doing more harm than good and run into bigger fitment problems trying to stick more than a 225 series tire on a 7 or 7.5 inch rim.

So you're saying I SHOULDN'T weld two wheels togther to make 14" wide super duely tires?

Damn it.

SSR is making a 15 X 7.5 in the 4x100mm, Kevin McKormick (2004 STS Nat'l Champ) uses them on the front only. Of course that's a Civic HB though. And there's that money thing too, SSR's cost you at least two appendages.

Are you sure that a 15 will clear the brake calipers on an MSP????

Merv (drive)

if you're concerned with the brakes you can also just go with 16's which you should still notice a difference

I've seen RX-8 rims on protege5's ... and those are 18x8 (right?)

I think they had 215/35-18s which is what most people run on proteges with 18s anyway
