Did anyone else notice in the video that the 2016 she was in did not have the Tech package (which means it also did not have the I-Active package either) yet it had the Blind Spot Monitor and the cross-traffic monitor? Nice upgrade to have without have Tech.

Options are different in Canada. Tech package includes everything from the american i-Activesense package. LED headlights/taillights are also standard on the GT trim. So while I hope those 2 features are also available on the american GT trim, I'm not 100 sure they are.

Nope. I have the GT with Tech Package, but NOT the i-Activesense. It appears the i-Activesense is an additional $1500. Here's a listing of what you get with each.

GRAND TOURING TECHNOLOGY PACKAGE -inc: Auto Dimming Rearview Mirror w/HomeLink LED Foglights Smart City Brake Support System LED Signature Rear Combination Lights LED Headlights Pivoting Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS) auto leveling and high and low beam LED Signature Daytime Running Lights Mazda Navigation System

GRAND TOURING I-ACTIVSENSE PACKAGE -inc: Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) close proximity warning Distance Recognition Support System (DRSS) Smart Brake Support (SBS) collision warning Lane Departure Warning High Beam Control (HBC)

Sorry if this was already answered but I was watching that compare video this afternoon. Are front turn signals LED or halogen? They appeared to be halogen bulbs to me in video.

I saw a black '16 today.. owner must have disconnected DRL's as they weren't on. They are LED aren't they?

Here's my experience buying a Mazda CX-5 in US: I went looking for a White CX-5 GT AWD with i-Activesense. I went to a dealer who said that particular one was as rare as hen's teeth currently but still managed to locate one. The dealer quoted $34,000 for the GT AWD & the I-Activesense - claiming that he couldn't give a discount because it just wasn't possible. (And then tried to upsell me all sorts of packages. I refused. ) He then told me the car was at another dealer and that I would have it delivered in 24 hours. I then paid a $7,000 deposit, got a financing deal and signed the contract for financing.

After a day and a half - he called and said the other dealer had already sold that car. He promised to find another one - and found one for $33,500 - but not in white. The lower price was because this one didn't have bumper guards and cargo nets. I told him I wanted it cheaper since I'm settling for a color that's not my first choice but he's refused. It's a bit funny that they would do the retail sale contract - and put a VIN for a car that they don't even have in their possession and then act like it's no big deal.

Has anyone ever experienced something like this ?

What are the prices you guys are seeing for CX-5's with the i-Activesense ? And is it common for the dealer to tack on destination charges ? Essentially he's selling it at MSRP + package cost + destination charge cost.

I just dont want to pay more than market rate - and don't want the dealer to pull a fast one because he sees I'm not a native

It's sad because I really like the car. After test driving this and the RAV4 and the CR-V - there's no comparison. The CX-5 is far better at handling than those two.

Hmm I don't know about the whole selling a car that is already sold type thing, it sounds like rubbish.. But I think the price is about right from what I have read on here. I am pretty sure there is always a destination charge. Sometimes dealers add other fees like "document fees" ranging from like $25 to what seems like $100's. What state are you doing this in?

When I look at a dealer on the internet near me, there is one who is offering $1,000 incentive already which took me by surprise. Another dealer I went to in person told me there were no incentives yet and kept telling me he didn't even have a brochure to give me. I want/need a new car and I am 99% positive the CX-5 Touring will be it but I am not ready to pull the trigger yet. Too many unknowns with pricing and I just want to see how it plays out over the upcoming weeks. Hell, you still can't even build the thing on Mazda's U.S. website yet!! C'mon already Mazda!!

Yep - so the car comes to $29,470 + $1,505 + $1,500 = $32,475. I asked the dealer what the difference in cost was ( from $33,500 ) he first told me 'AWD' and after I pointed out that the calculation was for the AWD model, he said 'destination charges' :)

Like I said - just wanted to make sure they're not pulling a fast one.

I always thought that the dealers usually sell a bit *below* MSRP - is this not always true ?

Not sure if I have heard of anyone getting a dealer to waive the destination charge. Mine was around $800 IIRC.

I'm not affiliated with these guys in any way, but was looking for 2016 photos last night and Morries Mazda in MN has some good ones.

FYI, I posted this on my thread for my new 2016 model: "Ok, so I said the salesperson told me the text features wouldn't work with an iPhone. Well, it is working. The new Mazda Connect will speak the text message. It won't display, but the navigation voice reads it. It's weird hearing the navigation woman speaking with my buddy's speech pattern. LOL!"

wait, which package or trim has that nice controls for heating and stuff? like the dual zone time of thing. I saw GT has that, then I saw touring has boring 3 knobs. Don't tell me its a GT exclusive? The dual zone climate with pollen blah blah thing is STANDARD ONLY on GT? and not an option on other trims? CMONNNNN MANN really? blah, I guess its not a big deal to you guys since it was on last year's model too, and I don't know how many more years. That's annoying. Dual Zone should at least be an option on 2nd trim

I finally got to see the new 2016 CX-5 at the Toronto Autoshow. A couple of things I noticed. The Tech package does not seem to include navigation in Canada. Navigation seems to be a separate item now. And I was very surprised that they did not include the heads up display in the 2016 model. I would have thought they would have added that to the tech package. I think the heads up display would have been a nice feature to have although I have heard that people have had problems with it in their mazda 3's. This CUV is definitely on my short list once my lease comes up on my current vehicle.

In Canada, the navigation package comes standard on the GT trim.
