Which gauge is more important?

I already have a boost gauge but I need another to fill the hole. Looking for something useful and informative to put in the hole.

I'm looking between these 3:

Coolent temp - had some issues with this during racing season

oil temp

oil pressure.

I would say wideband O2, but if you're not going to be doing any tuning, then it's not worth the cost. I would say go with coolant temperature. Adding any oil gauges can be tricky and can lead to unwanted and unexpected oil leaks.

I would go oil temp. The oil temp takes longer to warm up than the coolant so it's nice to know when you can stomp on it. The oil gauges are easy to install. Get the sandwich plate that comes with the ports and you can install in a breeze.

I would say wideband O2 also but its not just for tuning you can make sure you're not running to lean under boost cuz that can cause a BOOM

The only time he can expect a leak is if he runs a mechanical gauge.. Any electric gauge uses a sending unit and all that enters the cabin is a single wire..

IMO Oil Pressure is the most important... No oil pressure= BYE BYE motor.. If your not tunning wb 02 is waste of money and even if u are tuning u dont need the wb 02 in the car all the time all you end up with is a dead sensor..

I think you should go with the oil pressure gauge. But definatley go with an electric gauge, i have all of those gauges and the only one that wasnt working at the time was the oil pressure gauge, i had an oil leak and the next thing you know bye bye motor.

Oil pressure would tell me if I'm low on oil pretty much right? Unlike the low oil light which seems to only turn on when its too late....

No its not an oil level light..... It tells you the pressure your oil pump is building... The motor requires oil pressure to flow oil throughout it.. otherwise it would just collect in your oil pan..

i have three gauges, Wideband O2, Boost and Oil Pressure, i think by far the most important gauges, all three those are perfect for monitoring your cars behavior

Wish I could afford a wide band but wedding this year so I have to spend less. Looks like I may end up with an oil pressure gauge. Thanks for the help guys.

if you plan on tuning and increasing boost, wideband
if you don't, electric oil pressure

I do have a unichip that I hopefully will get tuned in the next year or two. Won't the dyno place have a wideband for use for a nominal extra fee anyways?

dyno widebands go into the tail pipe. in car widebands typically get mounted upstream in the exhaust for a more accurate measurement. you'll want to have a wideband for more than just the initial tune. you'll want to have it down the road to monitor air fuel ratios as weather changes etc.

(iagree) The wideband on a dyno is not quite as accurate. But if you dont care about that sort of stuff then just get a cheap-o $50 narrow band air/fuel gauge. It adds a nice light show to the interior of your car, LOL. ProtegeGarage has a good deal on the AEM UEGO wideband.
