Whats the best Struts buy for a P5 ?

You really can't beat tokicos for performance, and they allow for a drop. I recently justbought a set of tokico ilk series spring and strut set up. Love my newer setup. GL, with your search.
I recently saw a post on here listing that exact setup for some ridiculous price of like 375 or thereabouts.

The only one that lists anything for a protege is moton. They're steel so heavy and probly more expensive than coilovers

Actually, they all make custom shocks- so you can get whatever you need for a Protege if you really wanted it. The only one that doesn't have a Mazda fitment off the shelf in that list is JRZ.

I searched through all their sites, and is there really a need for custom struts on a $500?

Absolutely not. :) I was wondering how long it would take you to catch on- most of those will run you $2k to start. The ASTs on my S2000 run about $2500 new, and they're probably the cheapest out of that list. I was more answering the "best struts" part of your thread title.

KYB GR-2 is probably going to be the cheapest decent shock/strut for your Protege. I've used them on quite a few cars and have been very happy, especially for the price. KYB provides quite a few OEM applications (meaning they're installed at the factory, not just OEM fitments) and the GR-2 line is supposed to be valved 10-15% stiffer than stock.

Well then, I'm gonna try those KYBs over the rest of those brand names for now due to budget wise. The good thing is that every one here is a good help to one another. :)

Yeah, the other one I listed would be the cost of your car five times over. :D
