Hey everyone,
Youngster here has been long overdue on a job, so I was just wondering what everyone did for their first job and where it was. Also, how much did you make? Let's hear the details.

Lifeguard/swim instructor

YMCA and a private swim/tennis club back in 1993.

Lifeguard payed $7/hr
Swim Instructor payed $15/hr

During the summer I would spend 8 hours usually at one pool teaching and then go to the other to guard for a few... Damn good money for a 16 year old.

Kemp Mill Music.

It was a local record store chain that slowly died over a period of many years.

I had the greatest gig in the history of retail. All the other non-managers were in school, and needed to work evenings and weekends. I worked 10-6 M-F! Office hours at a retail job. My managers were both really cool, but they didn't like each other much.

I think I made about $4.50/hr. in 1993. I do still have a pretty bitchin' CD collection, though I guess it's kind of old now.

I was a librarian in highschool - I think it was 4.25/hour back then.
boring repetitive work but it was money.

I worked at a car wash when I was 14. Illegally, got paid under the table, made $5.00/hr (the minimum wage at the time).

I worked alongside all the illegal Mexicans lol

i worked moving boxes around for a friend's dad at 15. i think i made like 6.50 back in 99, it was good enough

I was the person who drove the truck around the dirt race track to smooth out the mud after they sprayed it down between heats and I set clay pigion traps at the shooting range. But that was when I was 15.

had a few jobs when i was a kid:

- Skate Patrol at the local arena during winters
- Concessions/Floor person at a movie theatre
- Pure labour moving boxes at my dad's warehouse

When I was 14 I worked at a golf couse washing carts and driving in the range picker. $5.15 / hour. Easy, and best job I have ever had. I find myself telling stories about it all the time.

Summer Camp Counsellor. 200$ a week...technically we where on the job 24hrs a day, cause we had to watch the kids, so I think that works out to like, just over a dollar an hour....but hey, camp councilor=dicking around with kids, and getting laid at night.member, this money is Canadian....

I got you all beat on this one. Worked at a small community pool back in 1982 in the yard maintenance at a whopping $1.19/hr.... I was 14.

I worked at a packaging plant making $8.00/hr when I was 15. one of the best times I've had. Also worked in construction as a flag guy along busy streets when they needed me and was paind $10/hr off the books cash. Let me tell yah, the construction I do over the summer now, shoveling and other very hard work, I would take over the flag job any day. 1 hour seemed like a day. Only good thing was I got to look and talk to good lookin girls if they ever stoped by me.

Worked in "Duchess" and got paid minimum wage, $4.46? This was 1995?

Then I worked at Carvel...
...an animal hospital
...landscaper
...busboy for one night
...ResNet @ UConn

I've had some crap jobs- sold newspaper subscriptions door to door when I was 15, it was 100% commission, worked as a busboy, washed dishes...etc, etc
